Things you won't find anymore...

...you might be amazed at the precision with only their eye and "simple hand tools".
That's exactly what I was thinking of. Not primitive, really, but non-electrical, for sure.

I grew up on a Calif dairy farm, and all our neighbors were farmers (of meat and meat by-products). None of them were professional carpenters but built their own barns, outbuildings, feeders, and so on with hand tools, surprisingly little hardware, and generations of know-how. They would all be well over 100yrs old today and most of their old builds are still standing. Some of the furniture they built is still there, now I think about it.

Anyway, yes it was fun stuff; I'm glad it caught your interest. (y)

Does anyone remember full-service shoe stores where fluoroscopes were present? You'd stick your feet into the device, and it would X-ray them to determine if your toes had enough room inside a shoe you were considering buying. Yes folks, get a free X-ray dosage just for coming in!

What other things once commonplace won't you see today?

Those old fluoroscope machines are terrifying in hindsight. It’s amazing how many everyday things used to be totally unsafe and nobody questioned it. Makes you realise how much our standards have changed
