Thinking of moving to a Senior independent living facility.

My sister told me she's found a nice community in her state that is for low and medium income people. She'll only have to pay 30 percent. I think that's great. Rent prices are too high for many seniors now.

I am unhappy where I live.
It wasn't so bad here until some very obnoxious people moved in . I'm going to look for a senior community that has low rent. I can't do it yet because of my lease but I'm going to start looking into places soon.

I've been here longer than I have lived anywhere else in my life. I also am tired of this location and hope to find something in a nearby city. I am in the Cleveland Ohio area. There are many suburbs. I just have had it up to my eyeballs here. Time for a change

Has anyone else been looking for a senior community?
 

In some ways I miss Cleveland but the West Coast weather is better for my bones, but not the politics.
Are you looking to leave the Cleveland area or just a different suburb? AARP might have some good resources for Ohio. One thing I regret about leaving Cleveland is the Cleveland Clinic.
Today, I live on a quiet cul de sac but that could change so I always keep my eyes open for someplace easier to care for as it is hard to find someone willing to work today.

I am hoping to find a tiny home senior community when the time comes - but most of them have a long waiting list.

DH and I live in our own home in a senior community now, but it's very expensive here - so if we decide to retire, we'll need a new place.

Check with your city or county commission on aging or whatever is similar in your area.

They should be able to provide you with a list of low cost or HUD subsidized apartments for seniors in your area.

We have several in my area but some are harder to get into than others and all of them have some sort of waiting list.

Also, check the local laws concerning your lease. Where I live a senior citizen can break a lease without penalty if they are moving into an independent or assisted living facility for various reasons, this sometimes requires a note from your PCP.

Now is the time to do your homework and explore your options, the hardest part is getting started.

It's never a good sign when I hear the words "low income".
