Catchy title . Great for the builders to grab attention, but it's still described as a tiny home @330 sq, feet. All in all great advertising gimmick

I live in a "mobile" home. I'm not supposed to say "mobile', it's "manufactured" homes. But, it fits my way of life. So, I guess if you're way of life is living in a tiny home, well, enjoy it. Yet, you know that a 330 sq, ft home, today, will be a 350 one, tomorrow. The 400-500-600, and then with the pool, and up grades 3,600.

If it was home-crafted I would be impressed.

They tout these "tiny homes" as a home you can hitch up and travel with. Nope.

You can move them, yes, but "travel" with them? Not very many times. #1 - You have to have a pretty powerful truck to pull them. #2 - They're not really built for the stress and twisting that a trailer gets out on the road.

They're really cute 'n trendy 'n all that, but if the object is to have a home you can travel around in, buy an RV. They're built for the stress of the road. Our big fifth wheel cost less than $50,000 and was bigger than my first apartment.

Yup. Same with our 5th wheel. When the slides are out it's about 350 square feet including full bathroom and shower, full kitchen with a table that seats four, king size bed, couch that folds out to a queen bed and two very comfy rocking recliners.

The RV industry figured this out a long time ago. "Tiny houses" are lesser attempts at reinventing the wheel.

I thought "mobile" home is the proper description? I can't be the only person old enough to have commonly heard the term, "They live in a trailer", when someone was describing an early "mobile" or "manufactured" home. I never took it as an insult - --it was just descriptive words that fit the time.

$115,000 for This???? If someone was willing to spend that kind of money on this "toy house", I wonder if that same individual would be willing to buy my stock in the Brooklyn Bridge.

DaveA, OMG!!!! Oh. No. NO. It's "manufactured" housing. That's the image they are going for. "Mobile home" is way too trashy. If you say to them, "trailer", you better bring smelling salts.

I actually like small houses for the minimalistic appeal. The idea of traveling in an RV has really appealed to my husband and I but isn’t gas a lot? That’s a beautiful RV @squatting dog. Sweet. Traveling is fun!
I wonder what the difference is between putting a tiny home, module home and mobile when it comes to the legalities of permanently parking it? I don’t quite get the wheels either.
It seems a complete waste of money. Is it to keep the floor off the ground?
Tiny house or expensive RV?

Well, Two people would have to be "awfully friendly".

I've seen episodes on the "tiny home" shows where a family of four or five and a couple of big dogs are supposedly going to live full time in one of those. The parents have one "loft" and the two or three kids will share the other. Everybody's going to be happy-happy-happy because, after all, "we'll be spending most of their time out enjoying nature". Yep, wait for the first time it rains for 10 days straight and we'll see how fast Mom is carted off to the loony-bin.

On the shows, they never talk about problems like what to do when all five of them and the two golden retrievers come in with wet coats, wet gloves, wet hats, wet pants, wet muddy shoes and wet fur...… Fun-fun-fun.

Tiny houses are tall, I don't see how you could go pulling them around the way you can a travel trailer or 5th wheel. (Caravan for our non-USA members). An RV is so much cheaper than the tiny house. Someone bought acreage near me and put a tiny house on it. The carport is larger than the house.

I watched one tiny house show on TV where the people had 3 or 4 kids and the mom was pregnant. They were going to all live in a tiny home and enjoy true togetherness. The kids were going to be in one loft and the parents would have another loft or sleep downstairs, I forget which. I was wondering if that was just something they came up with for that episode of Tiny Homes or did those people really think they wouldn't wind up driving each other nuts.

I suppose wheels are one way of giving the illusion that those tiny homes are easy to move. :D I wouldn't think anyone in their right mind would actually believe they could buy one of these and travel the country in it. Most camp grounds don't allow them, height issues can plague them, and of course, one would need an awful big truck to haul that puppy around.
Plus, there is a real problem meeting requirements in most area's to permanently setting it up. (code's, zoning, septic, etc).
We love traveling in our RV and yes, gas is our biggest expense, but when you count the fact that you're sleeping in your own bed, (no worries of what's been there before you), pooping in your own bathroom, (having seen what a lot of public restrooms look like), and cooking food as opposed to eating out, I think it balances out.
We just finished our latest trip, and if you wanted to camp with hookups, the price ran from $29, to $82, and even free. (Indian casino, and with full hookups to boot). Not bad considering it was labor day weekend and we had no reservations.
I guess it's not for everybody, but, it suits us just fine. I love looking at the world through a windshield. :D
