I love the jacarandas. Although they aren't native to Australia they are very common. Flying into Perth airport early one morning, after travelling overseas for 4+ months, I saw a patchwork of purple jacarandas and blue-grey eucalypts below the plane. I knew I was home at last and felt a surge of joy.
