Car passed the emissions inspection. Woohoo! As soon as my SS hits the bank on Wednesday morning, I can order my new tag. That will be a load off my mind. Then all that needs to be done is to figure out what's causing those two cylinders to misfire. I'm guessing fuel pump, injectors or coil, any of which will cost a few bucks, but I gotta keep her running and happy.

About five minutes after I got home from work, the phone came. I don't have a clue what to do with it and thought I'd have to wait for DSIL to get home from work to set it up. DD said she can do that part and is hard at it as we "speak". When he gets home around 8, he'll transfer all the stuff from the old phone to the new one.

It's a flip phone. Yippee and stuff. I really, really didn't like that great big smartphone that wouldn't fit in my pocket. I don't care if this one can't start the coffee, the car or my heart and don't give a rat's rear if it doesn't know which side of the bread gets the butter. I just want a phone that does what we used to call "tip and ring" back in the olden days when I was still designing circuits.

And I say with all sincerity and humility Thank You, Jesus:)

Phone works! DD got on the chat screen with a CSR at AT&T. Um. CSR activated my number on DD's phone. It took an hour to get that undone. Oy.

Now I have to unlearn all the stuff that I did on the smartphone and relearn a dumb phone. I'm up to the task...or down to the task:)

DSIL was supposed to be home in time for supper but has been held up at work...not held up as in robbery! held up as in he's up to his hips in alligators, nothing new there. When he gets home, he'll try to migrate the info on my old phone to my new one.

I'm getting happier and happier.

Kudos to HFL, Ina! Hope things are going okay with you and Michael...hugs. :love_heart:

iPhone and/or iPad? Waaaaay beyond me. I know we can't go backwards, but it really would be easier. DD surprised me tonight when she admitted that learning all this technology is easy for kids since they don't have unlearn anything. She lamented that it would be easier for her if she hadn't already been out of school for 30+ years. Right. But 30+ years? How can that be? Heck, I was just at her graduation...

Maybe it just takes a brain that works differently than mine.

Hi Sea,
We are seeing the daylight I think. With the cooler weather, it makes it easier for both of us to breathe. Michael is starting to feel better. Me too. They have him on a heart moniter for three weeks with LifeWatch. He comes off it December the 5th. They are trying to see if his heart caused his stroke. They think he has had a heart attach sometime ago, but he says no.
So I'm for doing the happy dance too.:happy:

Far out Georgia;)

I love my flip-phone, no butt-dialing South Africa by accident, etc. I'm like you, I don't need the extras. I just want to call and receive calls, that's it.

I recently got a new iPhone, and I admit it's still a mystery too me. Happyflowerlady almost fried my brain while trying her best to teaching me to use my new iPad and iPhone

Well, we probably both have fried brains now, Ina . Actually, I think mine was fried even before I started explaining how the iPhone and iPad work. That may be the reason that your brain was fried while learning.
However, that being said, we still had a great time working on iPad 101.

If all else fails, read the manual. I have got to be the most stubborn person when it comes to reading a manual, and it's really way more easy if I do. Also, the walkthrough, step by step youtube tutorials are EXCELLENT if you can locate a well-done video. If you want the help of a "how to" video, let me know Ina. I will find you one;) Denise

News flash, Denise...nothing comes with manuals anymore! I guess "they" figure that "we" have been using all that stuff for plenty long enough to figure it out ourselves. The only thing that MIGHT help is they give a website to check.

GeorgiaX, I found that out with the last two smart devices too. The company website "manuals" are not much better.

However, I've found individual videos that people posted on Youtube to be pretty helpful (Except the kids that post them
usually race through the steps, like they're trying to impress. I play them over ~5 times :))

metoo Nancy, in fact I was going to link to one for Ina, but the kid was going so fast. That's how I do it when I need a tutorial, just stop it all the time, go try what they say to do, go back, play again, repeat, LOL!!

What's the brand on the ipad, or iphone Georgia? I may be able to find you one;) Check here for example:

An iPad or iPhone are made by Apple, Denise.
Ina does have the manual should she need to look something up. The thing is, they don't hand them out with the Apple products, as Georgia mentioned. However, once you have the iPhone and iPad turned on, it is easy to download the manuals since Apple makes them as part of iBooks.
Pretty much, we just had to walk through the basics of setting up the phone with Apple, and how to use the iPad. The iPhone was easier, because it is kind of like a "baby iPad" that also makes phone calls.
