Yep. We had about that exact console. I would lay down face up and head in the middle of the stereo. I loved Jimi Hendrix's music. I thought the stereo fading was really cool.![]()

When my parents got one, they always called it a hi-fi.Wow! So nostalgic! We called them floor models. That's it. Dinosaurs for sure but seeing this leaves me with such longing. No, we couldn't afford anything like that when I was growing up. As an adult, I got to see them though, in some people houses and in stores. By the time used ones flooded the thrift market, I no longer wanted one. Some people are restoring and upcycling them for other uses.
that wasnt my boombox that was my parents...^^^^^...I remember my father sneering at my record player, and pointing at the radiogram saying ''THIS is not only a music box, but it's a piece of furniture as well''![]()

you couldn't take the lid off the Dansette... but when i was 21 my brother bought me this little one..whih you could take the lid off.. and put to the other side of the room because it had a little speaker inside the lid...That one was almost identical to the one I bought as a teenager. It had a lid I could take off and put it in the other side of the room and play stereo music.

that was similar to the one we got just after we got married in 1976... except our was white...This was mine. My DH has his original one where each component is separate (turn table/tuner)
and his speakers are floor to waist high. He's taken great care of it and I do not dare - touch it!

Yep, my first record player was similar, but it was pink.
