Did you have one in your house?

Growing up we never had a cabinet entertainment center, or even a record player so I got creative and made my own stereo system. I took a clock radio and wired in two little box speakers I got from somewhere. At that young age I didnt understand what true stereo was, other than it was two, so actually thought I had a stereo system. lol

Wow! So nostalgic! We called them floor models. That's it. Dinosaurs for sure but seeing this leaves me with such longing. No, we couldn't afford anything like that when I was growing up. As an adult, I got to see them though, in some people houses and in stores. By the time used ones flooded the thrift market, I no longer wanted one. Some people are restoring and upcycling them for other uses.

When my parents got one, they always called it a hi-fi.

That's kind of like my brother had.. not sure of the brand, though.

That one was almost identical to the one I bought as a teenager. It had a lid I could take off and put it in the other side of the room and play stereo music.
you couldn't take the lid off the Dansette... but when i was 21 my brother bought me this little one..whih you could take the lid off.. and put to the other side of the room because it had a little speaker inside the lid...
