This was quite a different Christmas from times before.

I felt that Christmas was not the same this year; in many aspects. I love this holiday but this year was so lonely and sad. First Christmas that I have not been surrounded by my family. My husband did his best to help with the cooking today. I did some baking as well. Baking has always been therapeutic for me.

I tried calling one sister and they didn't answer the phone; I'm worried sick because they
were staying home and have been social distancing from everyone.

I hope and pray that 2021 will be a better and healthier year for us all. So many lives have been lost due to Covid-19. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, my dear friends. I have enjoyed this forum and hope to continue to be part of it. Hugs to all.

You are so right about Christmas being so different this year. My husband and I were home all day. My daughter lives less then 10 minutes away from us but to be safe we all stayed at our own homes. We did do a video chat with my daughter and her family and even with my son's 2 boys, but it wasn't enough for me. I miss the kisses I would have gotten if they all were here. The world is a frightening place today. I pray 2021 will be much beter for everyone.

Different for me too. Grands brought food and gifts over and I sent their's back with them. Daughter is confined to bed due to recent surgery and other daughter is in Va. I did enjoy being home though. My daughter did find me some chocolate covered cherries so I just had two with my Dr. Pepper. Too much sugar but right now I don't care. Nice day but next week will have a birthday and welcome in a new year. Wishing all of you a peaceful New Year!

We usually go to a hotel so this was my first Christmas Day at home for 7 years, my daughter and her partner spent the day with me, no talk of Covid was allowed, we just relaxed and enjoyed being together, exchanging gifts, eating too much and so very, very grateful we’ve all made it through this terrible year when so many have lost their lives and loved ones

God willing we can do it again next year, wishing a happy and healthy 2021 to all x

@PamfromTx , I do hope you managed to get a hold of your Sister !

yesterday was different in many ways for us.. we more often than not spend Christmas in Spain, and also visiting my DD who has lived in Spain this last 11 years.. but this year due to the pandemic we couldn't go... and blessings of all blessings my daughter managed to sell her Niche business in Spain in October, which is something she'd been trying to do for several years and desperately wanted to do before brexit..

Sooooo, this meant despite the pandemic , we were all here in one country and only a 10 minute drive apart.. and she is in our bubble... 🄰

Things were not so very different here. We honored the event the day represents; the greatest gift ever given, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As has been the case for many years we spent the day enjoying each other's company, but for the first time we were able video chat with both of our sons at the same time using Zoom. We haven't seen our Navy son in person in over two and a half years (not for want of him and us trying) nor our son and his family who live four hours away since February. It was sooo nice to have everyone together in the same (virtual) room for a visit.

Yes, I found my sister later last night; they were all outside with their 2 youngest granddaughters. Everyone is ok. My sister, her husband and their daughter were tested for Covid-19 and their results were negative, by the way. The school where my niece teaches had a teacher who was infected. My sister's boss (Library Director) was infected as well. Thank you for asking, @hollydolly .

My daughter and family were under quarantine with an active covid case. I drove the presents to them last Saturday.... visited outside in the cold with social distancing ... They are all well, everyone tested negative. They had a great Christmas and sent videos of opening presents. I visited with my son and family Christmas Eve, but the bitter cold and snow sent me home to spend Christmas Day alone. I had two furbabies waiting for me when I got home. We had a great Christmas... me and the furbabies. Big ham bones for the babies... LOTS of leftovers. I didn't fix any desserts.... that is one big difference for Christmas dinner.

I felt so guilty at not being able to attend Christmas mass. The county where I reside had 380 new cases. Cases are increasing steadily.

We visited via Zoom with friends and family, not the same, but most all are well, with 2 exceptions. We decided to keep it simple with no big dinner. Will have that tomorrow instead. We all dedicated the day to our military at home and abroad who cannot be with family. Simple day and I did a lot of reading.
