This "World Cities" rebus game did not prove popular at a family party

I don't know whether they didn't understand the concept of the game or just weren't knowledgeable about geography. Here is a small sample. Can you guess the city suggested by the graphics?

That's Osaka on the right. However, for those outside the USA, 'sock' is not an exact homophone. No big problem though, in my opinion.

Bangkok is straightforward enough.

Wait though. What's that? Eye + seat + D + bison??? Hmmm *scratches head*

Not +D, it's -D. The clue isn't "seat", it's more of a verb action, and it isn't a bison.

They aren't EXACT matches to cites, just sound like them. For example an ocean liner graphic could represent a cruise and would be used to suggest Santa Cruz.

Well, No. 2 is Washington; No. 3 is Istanbul. Sounds like a fun game to me.

I thought so, too, but the vehement dislike of it by family stunned me. Some just took one look at the quiz paper and threw it back at me. Maybe it would cause them to think too hard. I have more if anyone is interested.

BTW - #1 is Canberra
