Tired. Just plain worn out.

I too am eating more protein..I'd love the lentil recipe..My down fall is sweets. I'm trying to limit myself to just one day a week now for a treat..I should try the gelatin. Its hard to learn over at my age, but I am trying so I can remain as healthy as possible, and live longer..:)

Now, to get with the exercise..Shhhhh,, don't tell Misty, I haven't been..;) I wish I could get addicted to exercise like I am to the internet.. I'd be skinny..lol

I like sweets too. I've started buying a chocolate 21g protein bar. Usually have one mid afternoon for a snack. Takes care of my sweet tooth and gives me some protein too.

As far as exercise goes, I got a dog a few years ago to help encourage me to get out and walk. I'm on my 2nd dog now and we go on 5 mile hikes 3 times a week. Walk in the neighborhood on the other days. I get in at least an hour a day.

Denise, I'm gonna try the gelatin. If nothing else, I know it's good for healthy fingernails. Any other benefits will be welcome.

Vixenator, I have to know: how did you come by your board name? Is there a thing called a vixenator?

Hm. It's probably been done before, but I think I'm gonna start a thread asking about board name origins.

I don't know where that poem came from but remember that during the war my uncle sent home a snapshot of himself sitting on a hill and the poem was penned on the back of the picture. I was just a little kid, but the poem has stuck with me all these years.

GXP, Your Uncle's poem are the words to a song:The song is on the album "Banjoman - a tribute to Derroll Adams", produced by Hans Theessink and Arlo Guthrie.
It is sung on the CD by his friend Ramblin' Jack Elliot.

Love the poem! Looks like you were just having one of those days. My son is still a teenager and sometimes when he gets ready for school he says to me: "Mom, I wish I was a dog instead so i wouldn't have to get up early, go to school, do homework, study for the tests..." so, you see even at such a young age, he has his bad, low-energy days too!

Thanx, Meanderer. I had no idea it was made into a song.

Mirabilis, gosh at his age I could hardly wait to get up and get to school, not that I wanted to be inconvenienced by having to actually learn anything. My interest was in seeing who was wearing what and looking at boys and seeing which boys were walking which girls to class!

That's how I am looking at it Georgia, I don't read any ill-effects from gelatin although others may have something to share about it. I feel after hearing d0ug's story, it is worth a shot. I think your staying active working is smart. Although we do need to slow down and house-work is hard as hell, I did a little couple days ago, and believe me, I was craving a protein fix! Just my big, fat opinion, but I think the worst thing we can do as we age, let alone any time of our lives, is become sedentary to much of our day. Bodies were meant to move, muscles were meant to stay strong to protect what lies beneath them. I love walking as an exercise because you can go your own pace, and still build leg muscle. When you build muscle, or tone, it burns more calories, from every, fat-store in your body. I do not believe in "spot-training" or losing fat just in a certain area. If I can't "store" fat in one certain area, what makes me think I can burn it off in one, certain area.

Anyway, I guess I go on about stuff, but it's working for me. I don't know anything for anyone else, and won't ever say "you need to do this", only share what I'm doing, what works, what doesnt' etc.:)
