The last time was 30 years ago. The best food is something that flies can't land on. Wrapped hamburgers are great since you can eat them while mostly wrapped. If a fly hits, it hits the wrapper. Also foods that don't spoil quickly.
Assorted sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad.
Carrot and celery sticks , freshly made muffins, Perrier water with lime wedges.
Our last picnic was last week. Our dogs love picnics too.
I love that song. I can remember singing it as a young child. As a family we used to go to my father's railway picnic once a year in December. I can remember my father doing a handstand for his 50th birthday. I still have the photo. He was our hero.
When it gets hot I like the old fashioned picnic foods like cold sliced ham, fried chicken or thin slices of cold meatloaf with a potato salad, deviled eggs, cucumber and onion or tomato salad and some great bread or rolls, washed down with a big pitcher of unsweetened iced tea. For dessert some walnut studded brownies and an ice cold watermelon wouldn't hurt!
