Today is The Solstice

Winter here at 3:03PM, wherever you are, Australia will
have already passed their Summer one.

I am never sure if anything really happens during one,
although a lot of people have been freezing all night at,
Stonehenge, waiting for it, but it is only a time of the day!

We have friends who live near Glastonbury. They have local events, Christmas markets and the Mediaeval Baebes concert. I think it would be fun and every year I think about going but, then it rains and I think, "maybe next year"! :ROFLMAO:

It was a bit chilly last night and Dawn; as one would expect at this time of (Northrn hemisphere) year.
T'was a bit of a challenge to find a suitable locale - a couple of miles away to the National Trust site of Styal Country park.
Armed with may flask of Honey Mead I made the trip of solitary practice of rite.
As with the day, a short simple time of respectful muse of what has been and what to be.
With candles and flowing water to light and refresh; amid the site of natural earth and stone, the caldron warmth and a short piece of prose saw another turning of the wheel.
May it be.

Winter Solstice was at 10:03 this morning here in Central Florida. Of course, the sun is shining and it's 74F at 2 pm

Can't complain

I understand that the time of the solstice is the exact
middle of the shortest day, although, those who go
to Stonehenge, want to be there at sunrise, but I
suppose that doesn't matter.

Today is the summer solstice (22nd December), the longest day of the year and in Rockhampton at solar noon (11.58am) there will be no shadows. The town of Rockhampton is exactly on the Tropic of Capricorn as far as I know the railway line still goes down one of the streets (not that that has anything to do with the solstice)

I'm probably the only one on the forum who is not looking forward to the increase sunlight during the days. I like the sunrising at 7:31 am and setting at 5:26 pm.
