Today's youth no sportsmanship. Sucker punched AFTER wrestling match

A youth wrestler was sucker punched by his defeated opponent in what was supposed to be a handshake to exemplify good sportsmanship. Instead the winner was sucker punched by his loser opponent. Charges filed for assault.

Today's youth seems to be lost to say the least. Thug loser. Another bitter and angered they didn't get their way or experienced an unexpected outcome.

I saw that also! The kid that did it should not only be kicked out of the sport but also expelled from school. I have seen this once before, I blame the coaches, they know these kids are thugs and must have to stop them from fighting during practices. The families should also sue the coach and the school....they must have consequences for the adults involved here...

That is terrible, anytime, not just after a bout of
wrestling.

I sometimes got angry for petty reasons, but I
never hit anybody, I didn't even think that I need
to, he won fair and square.

Mike.

When someone complains about 'today's youth' think about all the fine kids you don't hear about. Condemning a whole group based on stories here & there is old fart territory. Beware. ;)
By itself probably not but in combination with other incidents or personal experience puts me in old fart territory. I see a lost generation or two. There less and less respect for authority, tradition or just plain old ethics.

Completely wrong .... Hold the kid that did the punching responsible & only him. And prosecute him to the max permitted, even if it entails jail ... which I hope it does.

Hundreds of thousands of high school wrestling matches end without incident. One kid sucker punches another, and "the youth" of the nation is lost? The kid is facing charges for his actions, so despite our righteous indignation, maybe we can take the death penalty off the table.

I saw this on TV. I am an old guy who grew up wrestling and coaching wrestling to kids. The guy that 'sucker punched' the kid who just pinned him, was mad and embarrassed. The winning wrestler pinned this kid in about 20 seconds after the match started.

The kid that did this should get kicked out of wrestling for good and kicked out of school for fighting, at a school sponsored event!

He is a thug not an athlete. His coach should also be suspended as he knew that this kid was a fighter. This kid surely displayed the same anger and out of control nature in practices. Wrestling practices always include full matches against kids on your team. Since this kid had zero wrestling training or skills, he would have been knocked down and pinned many times in practice, and no drought in my mind, that he tried some of this crap in practices. So, the coach knew he was not ready for prime time.

The boy that pinned this creep, was a good wrestler and used a complex pinning combination to 'stick' this kid early in the first period of the wrestling match. At the end of the match, the wrestlers always return to the center of the mat and shake hands. When the winner reached out to shake his hands, the other kid sucker punched him and knocked him out! A good thing they were on the wrestling mat because this kid went down hard.
