Took a fall yesterday...in my living room

Yesterday was not a good day. Was walking over to my bookshelf to get something. Stopped my walker, locked it, and as I turned to take a step, had a VERY close encounter with the floor. Landed between bookshelf and TV. Cracked my forehead against bookshelf and landed with back against corner of TV stand.
Did NOT have my medical alert button on me, but luckily my landline phone was on top of bookshelf. Was a bit of a stretch to get it, but got reciever and called 911.
Bruised up my left arm and my fac around left eye,
I chise not to go in to hosp. Because of angle of landing, and the fact I am a bit plus sized, they had a bit of trouble helping me up. Ended up getting a sheet, sling it around my lower back and yanked. Got up. Very sore today

Took a couple pics....going to put them in a spoiler, so you can choose not to witness my idiot outcome

Oh blimey, Marie... you did fall hard didn't you?.. what a shock ! I'm sure that really shook you up for the day....

Hope you're feeling better today.. but those are nasty gashes....
 
@Marie5656 That is scary. Glad you are OK and the fall didn't do any permanent damage. Those ER visits can be worse than the fall sometimes. Last time my husband fell, they had to call another ambulance crew. It took six to get him on the gurney. He wacked his head, but just missed the counter and it was all on the wood floor and on the back of his head.

You did take a nasty hit. That gash looks like there should be a stitch or three thrown in. That one is nasty.

I did ask the EMTs if they felt I Needed a stitch or two. At the time they said no, but I should go in for stitches if bleeding did not stop. So far, OK

Oh Marie, you poor little thing! That really looks awful and painful! I gasped loudly when I saw the photos.

Do you have help if you need it, changing bandages and preparing meals, and so forth? Also, the gash in your arm - if not stitches, did the EMTs use butterfly bandages?

Do OTC pain meds help any? I am assuming that to play it safe, you are not interested in narcotics.

Did the responders offer any medical help? If not, did you clean and bandage your gash? I hope you are okay --- this is my daily nightmare, falling. Hugs to you and stay safe!
