The background is that in December 2022 a female of 33 years was swimming topless at a public swimming pool. The staff asked her to cover her breasts. She refused and was expelled from the pool. She made a complaint and pointed out that the house and bathing rules do not specify any gender specific requirements but only require standard bathing attire. The ombudsman's office intervented with the result that swimming with nude upper body should be possible also for "female persons and/or for persons with female read breast" in the future.Berlin, Germany just announced that public pools will allow females to go topless.
I should've said the influence of that puritan/calvinistic/fire & brimstone religion still holds too much influence today in too many places here in the U.S.I myself have no desire to be topless or nude in front of others because my body=yuck, but don't have a problem if others visit nude beaches or other areas. I doubt if the U.S. will ever get used to the nude human form though; way too much of that puritan/calvinistic/fire & brimstone religion in our past.
Sounds uncomfortable. Is topless really a big deal? Bikini's that cover only the nipple combined with a string going up the butt crack leave little unexposed.![]()
Yes but there is dignity, decorum and decency. If those exist any more.i worked with a couple , who spent their vacation at a nudist camp. They told me that by the second day, they didn't even notice it. I don't think it's "BREAKING NEWS' that we have bodies, and it just depends on the customs of the area.
I believe true nudism decreases the desire to view pornography.I never cared for it, honestly. It does not leave anything for your imagination.
Having worked in the radiation field, I do know that the sun's rays can be harmful to exposed skin over time (melanoma).
Nude not lewd. Why is it of all the creatures on earth, we are the only ones that feel the need to unnaturally cover our bodies?Yes but there is dignity, decorum and decency. If those exist any more.
The media body shames us into thinking we need perfect bodies.I'm afraid I must pass, not as perky as I used to be. Did when I was young and cute.
I guess the same reason "others" want to body shame people for enjoying life naturally. Why? Why do some people want to display themselves? It's bad enough seeing fat, flabby bodies in swimsuits without being subjected to exposed breasts.
Heck, the gulls'd have to declare a no-fly zone over wherever I was if I were nude.I enjoyed going to the nude beach for years but alas my au naturel days are over. I can't do that to my fellow humans. I'd worry about the gulls falling out of the air, too.
So in the US you have the right to bear arms but not to bare bodies!I doubt if the U.S. will ever get used to the nude human form though; way too much of that puritan/calvinistic/fire & brimstone religion in our past.
'Well-regulated' is the key word. Responsible gun ownership is one thing, but unfortunately there are too many idiots around so the general public are a menace to themselves as well as others. So in the US you have the right to bear arms but not to bare bodies!
"Second Amendment:" A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Is it ever warm enough in Ontario???I think Europeans are more used to that kind of thing.
Did you know that it has been legal for women to go topless in the province of Ontario for about 30 years? I lived in Ontario for most of my life, including many years in Guelph. But I have never, ever, seen a woman go topless in Ontario, except at a privately owned nude beach.

I think we are the only country in the world with the legal right to short sleeve shirts...So in the US you have the right to bear arms but not to bare bodies!

You're not looking in the right place. Just a warning, she is topless, but oh so beautiful.I remember years back the women of Ontario, Not all of them, but quite a few had a huge protests about women going topless on our Ontario streets... Till this day, I have yet to see a topless Lady walk down the streets...
It seems that Toronto is a nice cityYou're not looking in the right place. Just a warning, she is topless, but oh so beautiful.
NorthernLight, thank you for the link. This is quite interesting. I've never known about Gwen Jacob. In a certain way she was fighting for women's rights as her forerunners did, for example Amelia Bloomer regarding the dress reform.I think Europeans are more used to that kind of thing.

In most our cases, certainly mine, it is just as well! I don't want to frighten people - and I do like being warm.Nude not lewd. Why is it of all the creatures on earth, we are the only ones that feel the need to unnaturally cover our bodies?
