Transgender Banned from Competing in a Woman's Bicycle Race

In all honesty,@Mike I believe males have a tendency to build muscle strength a lot faster than women.
So I am in favor of them being banned.
But that is just my opinion, feel free to disagree.
No, it is not a matter of opinion...it is scientific fact. Yes, there are many men who which to live as women, and they should be allowed to do so but they have to accept the fact that they still have the bodies of men.
When you see someone walking down the street, how do you know which sex they are? Simple....by the way they walk. The whole body structure is different and this affects the way we walk. That can't be altered.
It's absolutely vital that we get all this sorted out. We must not allow ourselves to be brow-beaten into accepting something which is simply not true.

I believe we want our sports to be competitive, and nobody has an unfair advantage. Males have some advantages women don't possess. But that's a huge generality. If a woman has a hormone malfunction, and has a much larger and stronger body, than her normal female contestants-is that fair? I think you go crazy trying to figure every possible unfair competition. The people, who run the sport have to determine who is allowed to compete where.

Still registered as a male cyclist kind of says it. When registered female, then will they be able to compete?

I don't know how this got to be the big woke agenda. A former woke KGO radio host (San Francisco station) got on a guy who called in about a female who couldn't win (high school sports) because she kept getting beat by a trans woman. He was so nasty back to the caller. In a weird voice he said something like "oh was she so upset, did she need counseling?" Really, he had no idea what sports meant to this young woman or how it may have tied into her own sense of self and esteem. It's just gone nuts.

What's the BIG Deal? They are "making a mountain out of a mole hill." The easy solution is to have 1 race for men, another race for women & a 3rd race for all the transgenders out there. Makes a lot of sense to me. If you don't allow men and women to race together in the same race, why in the world does anyone want to have transgender race with men or with women. They want to be special, allow them to be special. Problem solved.

Here in "forward thinking" Canada we had a big stink a couple years ago with the government promoting "Gender Neutral" toilets. That's right! The transgenders had some issues with using male or female bathrooms so the government, in it's infinite wisdom, said that they will build "Gender Neutral" toilets for those who are uncomfortable using the older, more standard, male/female bathroom. I suppose we have made progress from the little brown building out back that grandma and grandpa used to depend on with the half moon door and the 12 season air conditioning. I don't recall grandma and grandpa worrying too much about what gender was using the outdoor biffey. It welcomed everyone, young and old and you didn't have to put in any money to use it.

men becoming women
and vice versa, but most of the men who have had this done are
all sportsmen
Why would you think most transgender people are into sports? I don't know any of the statistics, but one of my coworkers transitioned and he/she is a computer geek and another coworker said that is the third coworker that has transitioned, and as far as I know none of them would be into competitive sports.

Although it seems fair-ish to separate sports into men and women, I'm not sure that is the best method, there are probably small sized men that would like to compete, and certainly women come in a huge variety of heights and strengths, it would seem more fair to have subdivisions like I think wrestling has?

I agree men who identify their gender as female should not be allowed to compete against women in sports events.

They're stronger; muscles and bones are larger and more powerful, their center of gravity is different and they're usually taller.

Surgical alteration of *******ia and hormone therapy does not change a man's sex to female.

They can yodel "I Am Woman Hear Me Roar" under my window, but they are still not women.

It's so simple that I can hardly believe the issue has gone on as long as it has.

I've never understood these Homosexual or Transgender issues. In my nearly 80 years, I've never met a man who I wanted to "kiss". To me, this is just another "live and let live" human "trait". However, when it comes to physical sports, I'm 100% Against allowing "men" to compete as women.

Tax dollars well spent on those gender neutral toilets right? o_O I mean what do you expect the non binary to use? I'm not trying to be mean here but it's crazed. Just like the individual with the beard at the little old lady volunteer run thrift store who had a fit because he was kindly refered to as 'sir.'

The transgender only sports has been mentioned but it doesn't work for the woke crowd.

LOL - Public restrooms with both signs on them. Does that mean men can't leave the seat up?

That is an interesting solution, might work.

Another would be to just do away with men's or women's sports and let all compete in unisex events. I know that would put many women at a disadvantage, but not all. I am at a genetic disadvantage in basketball due to my height, a genetic trait, and don't feel discriminated against.

There are a few solutions, but letting a transgender former man compete as a woman doesn't seem a reasonable one.
"Gender Neutral" toilets
All the toilets in my house are gender neutral!

A year or two ago, there was a large South African woman, who
was winning everything, sports people from other countries all
objected to her competing against other women, the ruling body
of whichever sport was upset, insisted that she, she was a real
woman, had to have a medical, blood test and a DNA test to prove
that she wasn't a man.

Now they know that it is a person who changed from being a man
and they are afraid to broach the subject.

Personally although I don't really care if they want to change their
gender, I think that it is unfair on the young women who have trained
since school day are being cheated out of their own sport.

A transgender man attacked a woman in a female only ward of a hospital,
in March 2022, how far should the law turn a blind eye?
Full Story Here.

Mike.

These transgenders, homosexuals (gays) I wonder how many of them truly are, as in, biological, or is it if you feel like that, then you are, I believe for many it is a phase they are going through in their lives.
Here in New Zealand we have been told if we feel like a Maori, but our families have no Maori blood in them, we can still put our name on the Maori electoral roll, talk about pandering to the minority.

Good point, Alligatorob, I never really gave it much thought but I suppose that my toilet is also gender neutral. Hey, it doesn't even have a sign on the door so everyone is welcome to use it. LOL

I think the time is near when we could use technology to compare athletes' performance and adjust for things like age, gender, height, weight, etc...

That might allow us to determine that a 12-year-old boy or an 80-year-old woman is actually a more efficient runner than a 19-year-old man.

IMO that information would be much more valuable and more interesting than the traditional raw score.

Although I support transgender rights, I do have a problem with male-by-birth competing in female-only competitions. There are distinct, undeniable physiological differences, even when a male's testosterone levels are medically reduced to mirror that of most females. The person's physiology is a done deal by that time.

The US Title IX sports funding and competition was a long, hard fought battle. If men and women could physically compete evenly in the sports arena, you can be sure those laws never would have been enacted law by legislators - especially since legislators are disproportionately male, and even more so when the law passed in 1972.

If people born biologically male insist on competing as women in women's sports, resentment against transgenders will build and they'll soon find themselves ostracized not only in the sports world but in other worlds as well.

Men who are taking female hormones lose muscle and strength. So I don't have a problem with trans competing in womens sports.

Thanks, that is interesting.

I follow a transgender woman (formerly male) who also feels that she should not compete as a female, as she is retaining much of her male strength, and would have an unfair advantage,
