It is possible, but harvesting the fruit would be a nightmare. Even if you had a tree like this in your yard you wouldn't get enough of any one fruit to be very useful.
I grafted a limb from our Gala apple tree to a wild crabapple 3 years ago. It is growing well but hasn't started bearing fruit yet.
