Treehouses Aren't Just for Kids Anymore

Sea, I spent may hour building one as a 8 y/o, and it made for a great hideout to read. At 25, I became a Cub Scout leader, and we built a tree house 20' 0ff the ground. The inside was 30' x 30', and the local hardware store donated the scouts dark blue color. I would take the kids on Friday after school, and the parents would pick up there exhausted kid Sunday, and thank me for being a free baby sitter.

Good that you enjoyed one as a child Ina, and so good of you to work with the kids as a scout leader, kudos!

Tree house? We wuz too poor but we did spend a lot of time up the oak tree that grew in my friends chook run. We imagined it to be a fort and the chooks below were the Indians attacking us. We pelted them with acorns to make them squawk.

We were horrible little nippers in those days.

In our chook run we had a mulberry tree and we sat in that tree eating mulberries by the handful.

We did that with the beds in our bedrooms.

They were pirate ships or, because they had long legs, they could double as caves or cubby houses when we crawled underneath them. They also made reliable safety nets when we climbed up on top of the wardrobe and jumped off the burning building.

We had overactive imaginations in those days.

I've never even been in a treehouse, but it seems like now they're a big hit with adults as well as kids...http://www.zillow.com/blog/treehouse-trend-151729/
Can't recall every seeing one with a sauna or stained-glass windows. These were built by professionals...for adults, who never grew up. Peter Pan would have liked these!
