Trial to begin for a man that shot a girl in his driveway

"A judge strongly admonished a 66-year-old man Friday before sentencing him to 25 years to life in prison for shooting and killing a woman who was a passenger in a car that mistakenly drove up his driveway in rural New York last year.

“I think you really could possibly do the same thing again,” Washington County Judge Adam Michelini told Kevin Monahan before imposing his sentence for second-degree murder. “It’s obvious to me that you feel justified. You don’t take any responsibility for the outcome of your actions. You just don’t get it.”"

Justice is served. Poor woman and family, what a tragic loss.

I hope they throw every book they have at this POS! Then I hope they put him under the jail and leave him there until he dies. Of course those are exaggerations, but I really do hope he gets the maximum sentence and has a really hard time inside for the rest of his life.

May that poor girl R.I.P. and may her family get the justice they deserve.

Could the defense possibly go with trespassing? and protection of his property?

That wouldn't fly where I come from. A person has a perfect right to enter a property, walk up to the front door to knock or ring the bell. That includes people making deliveries, wanting directions because they are at the wrong address or just wanting to introduce me to Jesus.

You can tell them to go away but you are not allowed to kill them.

I was a census worker at one time. If there was a lock on the gate then I could not enter, but almost none of the houses had any barrier to prevent me knocking on the front door. I would knock or ring the doorbell then step back so that I did not appear menacing in any way. I was never met with any aggression and never dreamed that someone would attack me just for entering the property.
