30 is not old, by my reckoning anyway. I have a pair of lamps, one on either side of my sofa, that were my parents'. They are probably older than me; I can't remember a time when we didn't have them. I really like them, and they have always done the job well. Recently, one of them started blinking and turning itself on and off. I wondered if I would have to get rid of the pair of them, but it turned out there was something wrong with the socket. I fixed that, and (so far) the lamp is back to working fine.
I guess I'd make 50 the cutoff age for an "old" household item.
I do not text to myself. But alone in the house, I do talk to myself at times.
