True or False...

what ?.. stealing ?..
The Chinese and White Elephant gift exchange rules are simple:
  1. Choose a number – place a number for each person in a basket and allow everyone to choose. Whomever chooses #1, goes first.
  2. Selecting gifts – #1 may select any of the wrapped gifts. Whomever selected #2 can either take the opened gift or unwrap another gift. If the guest takes #1’s gift, then #1 gets to select another gift from the pile. #3 can either take from #1 or #2, or get a new gift, and so on.
  3. Takebacks – each time a gift is taken away from someone, that person gets to select again. The guest may select any gift except the one that was just taken away. The guest may however, have the opportunity to select it again later.
  4. Frozen – some gifts may get stolen several times. The fourth person to get a gift, may keep it. No more swiping the gift. The gift is frozen.
  5. Advantage of being first – since #1 didn’t get to steal form anyone, that guest gets to go last ans swap if he/she wants to. The only gift #1 can’t take is a frozen gift.

It's a laugh riot, Holly. No kidding.

I don't do grab bags anymore. I always seem to get stuck with a crappy item. When my mom was in the Grange, at one of their Christmas parties I put in an antique brass bell and got a roll of LifeSavers. My first year at work, I put in one of those 3 packs of wine that was popular then and got back an electric corn cob.

Starsong, I can. When I lived in Washington State, one of our neighbors had an annual Christmas party involving a White Elephant exchange. It really was a hoot, and we looked forward to it every year, One time, we got the last pick, which is always the best one. Everybody was hoping to get that gift (a ridiculous elaborate wall clock, with curlicues and made of gold-plated plastic.) We hung it up in a tree in our yard the next day for a few days.

You are having or going to a holiday party this year.
