Truth and Non-violence

Something to ponder.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the assassination of Mohandas K Ghandi.
Ghandi’s unwavering commitment to the concepts contained in the Sanscrit words Satyagraha and Ahimsa, roughly translated into English as truth and non-violence, even seventy years after his death, continue to be an inspiration to those who seek to build a society that values human rights.

These principles have always been important but never more so than now.

Do we remember the Mahatma and his message of peaceful resistance to injustice?

I remember him, I was a child in India when he was
assassinated.

My father always told me that if it had been a white
man who had killed him that I wouldn't be here today!

Very true.

He was a great man because all he cared about was
his country and how the people were treated he was
killed by one of his own who didn't agree with him, sad.

Mike.

Good find, Aunt Bea.

When I was a child I heard my mother berating the memory of Gandhi because she saw him as a dangerous revolutionary who opposed the glorious British Empire. Later in life I came to see him differently. I find him an inspiration for those of us who value justice and peace.
