Try the 36 Questions on the Way to Love

A recent Modern Love essay refers to a study that explores whether intimacy between two strangers can be accelerated by having them ask each other a specific series of personal questions. The idea is that mutual vulnerability fosters closeness.

I heard a discussion of this experiment on Public Radio and the New York Times has had a couple of articles. I found the subject quite fascinating.

Didn't read them all but I got the gist of it.

Made me think of when I met my husband online (through my ad). For some reason we were very honest with each in our emails telling each other very personal details of our lives, and I'd say a good portion of our life story. In the beginning it was only intended to be a friendship, but we kept clicking. We also began talking on the phone.

When discussing this with a colleague she said we were getting to know each others souls. No physical chemistry or lust was clouding things.

So I knew when I met him in person (after only about 6 weeks) that I was in love with this man.
