Got up this morning and outside it's 47º and inside the house is just 61º which to me is a little too cool to be walking around in just my skivvies and a t-shirt like I normally do for awhile in the mornings so I fired up the furnace for the first time this year to break the chill inside.

Have you had to use your furnace yet ?

We turned the heating on night before last for an hour because now it's getting a little chilly in the house in the evening, down to around 50 deg F ... but during the day it's warm and sunny..

Today it's around 75F...but forecast to drop around 12 degrees from tomorrow

I live in an apt complex,so I have no control over when the decision is made to turn the furnace on.When I went on my early walk this morning it was 49,refreshing with no wind Sue

I couldn't cope with that MQ... I need to be in control of my heating. A friend, ( and member on here)... has the same situation where he lives in Russia... if the heating is turned on communally, they have no control over it, and when it's too warm they have to have all the windows open, and vice versa during the year if it still feels cold and the heating has been turned off for the summer...

Nope, still hot here. Will be 100 today. House was 78 when I woke up.

I hardly have to turn the heat on in the winter, just in the mornings to warm up the house so I can shower, turn it off later.

Before you fire up the furnace for the first time you should put a new filter in because there is dust that will be sucked in from all summer long.

In fact I'm convinced there are flu virus there from last year.

It seems to break out as soon as summer is over.

I had the air conditioning on last night in the bedroom. As far as the heat is concerned, I wouldn't care if we ever turned it on.That's what sweaters, sweats and heavy socks are for. The hubby has other ideas. Last winter I thought I was going to have heat stroke sitting in our TV room.

.

Still using AC here in Texas.

I try to put off turning on the heat as long as possible which is easy to do here in the South...
except maybe once to test the furnace to make sure it still works when I really need it.

Good tip for everyone Camper but I'm covered......I've always changed the filter every 90 days as recommended by 3M and I just changed it a couple of weeks ago on the 15th of this month.

HollyDolly, the only room I can control when the heat comes on is my bedroom,I have a knob on the radiator to turn on/off The other rooms I can't do that Sue

Definitely not here! Right now it is 93, and with the humidity, it "feels like" 103. I've already heard some older folks complaining about how hot and humid it is. So far, each morning at 8AM, it's been around 79 with 97 to 100% humidity. A person can really feel the humidity when they go outside.

Definitely can't wait to move. Northern Colorado is now in their Fall season with daytime high of 65 to 75 or so and overnight of 40 or so. Best part, 14% humidity at noon.

And we are STILL in the heat of hurricane season!

got up this morning and it was a dreary 50 degrees and pouring rain, so, I lit up the wood stove to take the dampness out of the house.
sure love wood heat. :):)

I don't like feeling chilly. Yes, turned it on one evening. The weather turned warm the next day. It's been off for a while. Hope we get a little bit of an "Indian Summer."
