At this time of year this is something to think about.

Recently a newborn baby boy was found in a stormwater drain in Sydney. He had been abandoned there by his mother within 24 hours of being born and had lain there for six days before being discovered. Hours later the heavens opened and the drain became a raging torrent.

This opinion piece refers to this incident then goes on to talk about how the Christmas story of a baby born in a cow stall has shaped out view of the value of human life. It also talks about the duality of human nature and our failure to live up to our own ideals. Philosophical from a religious perspective. Worth a read and a few moments of reflection.
