I have never in my life heard of anything like this.. How Disgraceful...

Both Fathers charged with Attempted Murder..after a 5 year old and 14 year old were shot...

Both girls are expected to survive, but the sheriff of Nassau County, Bill Leeper, condemned both fathers for their stupidity in what a witness said was high-speed 'cat-and-mouse' game.

'What is scarier than one crazy driver with a gun? Two crazy drivers with a gun,' Leeper said on Monday.

'But it could have been very easily turned out that way because two people were acting stupid and let their tempers get the best of them. There could have been two dead kids because of two stupid grown men.'

Hale was driving a black Dodge Ram near his home with five occupants inside, including his mother Britney.

Allison was driving a gray Nissan Murano with three occupants, including his wife Jessica and daughter Shelby, all heading home to Georgia.

Both were on US Highway 1 near Callahan around 6pm.

They both accused each other of 'brake checking,' driving erratically and dangerously.

Jessica Allison wound down the window and began making offensive gestures at the Hale vehicle, and the Hales then threw a water bottle into the Allison vehicle.
Frank Allison opened fire while driving, believing he had hit the Hales' tires - when in fact he had hit the girl.

Hale fired back, striking Allison's daughter who was riding in the car with one of seven or eight rounds he unloaded into the speeding vehicle.

The mother of one of the children who was shot can be heard on a 911 call.

'My daughter's been shot — please help me,' she says.

A child can also be heard weeping on the call.

'I don't want to die,' the child can be heard saying, according to News4Jax.

Both drivers continued heading north, with their injured daughters in the back.

The pair saw a Nassau County Sheriff's Office patrol car and stopped, then began arguing and fighting with each other by the side of the road, and the deputy had to break up the fight.

Beyond stupidity, quite criminal. Hope both of them rot in jail for a long time.

More importantly I hope the girls recover and find good father figures in their lives...

Having lived in Florida more than anywhere in life this unfortunately doesn't surprise me. Ever hear of the Florida Man game? A board game mixed with true and false headlines that begin "Florida Man", you have to decide which one is true or false. Unfortunately many of the worst are true. Now they will have to update it for sure. Florida Man https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/329145/florida-man

I've watched all the "Fear Thy Neighbor," episodes and started to notice how very often some loud mouthed woman is the instigator -- and while others die and their men go to prison -- they never see a minute of punishment.

I guess that is the price we pay for having freedom of speech. Seems to me that their should be some conspiracy charge or something though for anyone egging on a shooter.

In the USA am I wrong, in thinking that there's a greater punishment for child endangerment... than most other things..?.. much less 2 parents causing each others' child to be shot..
I can only speak for Pennsylvania, however, it is a first degree misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000.00 fine, if found guilty. The sad part is that child endangerment occurs every day, but not all acts are reported.

My last arrest for child endangerment was a father who bought alcohol for his son’s graduation from high school party. In court, the judge was very lenient in this case. The defendant had no other priors, so the judge suspended his 3-year sentence, but fined him $3500.00. The judge added that had one of the kids who drank at the party been involved in a vehicle accident and was hurt or hurt someone else, he said he would have handed down the maximum sentence.

I know. We take inflicting violence seriously in this country. :(

Could be a result of locking people up and away from each other for a year? This generation growing up through this is going to be a psychological mess. :(
Well then, it doesn't say much for the maturity level of our nation. Imagine if it were really bad, like a war? How would we delicate babies survive?

This is a moderately sad example of the joint effects of gun proliferation and unresolved anger in the United States of America. I can't imagine driving in an erratic fashion with my child in the car. Further, discharging a weapon and flinging objects (water bottle)? A case of road rage that might very well elicit a visit (if not a charge) from the county child welfare agency. These "parents" bear watching.

Well fortunately both men are in Jail according to reports, and hopefully the children will recover without any lasting physical damage, but goodness knows how they will fare emotionally.. just beggars belief...

I suppose an argument can be made for the person who fired a weapon in response to the first shot. It's not a great defense, but it's something. You know, on second thought, nah. The context (road rage driving), and the optics (kids being shot) render this a case where both drivers will probably plead (depending upon their criminal history or lack thereof). One thing is for sure, these guys are not particularily smart...and they have weapons. Yikes!

I'm happy to see they have both been charged with attempted murder.

You can't shoot at a car load of people for any logical reason other than to kill someone. I'm sure they will both try to say it was self-defense, but as I understand it self-defense requires that you have no other way out. All either one had to do to make his family safe was let up on the gas.
