Very true, Justme, but then most countries have their own 'invasions' to answer to whether recent or in the past.
Us Brits have nothing to be proud of either, having conquered much of the planet at one time or another!

This all reminds me of what General Patton is reported to have said at one time: We should whip the sobs while we've got our army over here. He continued...we're going to have to do it sooner or later. Personally I hope he was wrong. I don't worry about Putin, I don't worry about our army, I do worry about our politicians to handle something serious, and of course, Australia's radar.
