I have zero respect for Coulter, for obvious reasons. She has been the same for years, repulsive. The focus of this thread is NOT politics, it's about a media personality that is spewing hated and racism targeting a former elected officer holder.
Of course Ann Coulter would hide behind First Amendment free speech protection, and profiting financially, profiting off her divisive, un-American diatribes that is her hallmark.
Such media / media personalities go un-checked and do enormous damage to our society and to our nation. But, nothing can be done, without invoking accusations of censorship. Of course, there is civil recourse for individuals, as Alex Jones discovered with the judgements against him for his "false flag" claims he publicly made, about the Sandy Hook shooting.
Thanks, Alligatorob. I appreciate your response.I'm not sure any of us do.
I think Matrix does his best to keep conflict to a minimum, particularly over politics. Whilst allowing some leeway. The result is some necessarily subjective judgement. Apparently there was a time before I came here that it turned pretty nasty I can see wanting to keep that out. There are other places folks can go to argue and call each other names. I like the reasoned discussions we sometimes have here better.
If in doubt you can send Matrix a pm asking about a specific post or subject, he is usually responsive.
As a lifelong Christian I am appalled to witness the decline in respect for Christianity, due to the repulsive spectacle of such blatant hypocrites.Notice how she has her little cross so proudly displayed. She loves the great Jebus and Jebus loves her, so anything she says or does is okay.
I felt the same way. Nikki Haley is a politician and Coulter is a political journalist. If they aren't political what is. But, I don't object to this thread. As far as hot topics go, Biden and Trump are in the news on my TV a lot more than Haley and Coulter. So it looks to me like they are all on the table.Ok, not trying to cause trouble either but I really do not understand the no politics rule here. Nikki Haley is running for president and Coulter has been a political columnist for years. If they aren’t political what is.
Absolutely, I also believe in our rights to say most anything no matter how stupid.I am not condoning her comments but we do have freedom of speech and I support her right to exercise it.
Since she's "just getting started," the next thing Ann Coulter is going to do is to announce that Nikki Haley must produce a genuine birth certificate.Coulter, known for her racist and anti-immigrant stances, attacked India, as well.
Nikki Haley announces presidential bid: 'I'm just getting started'
I'm trying to figure it out too.@Nathan I am interested in what in this thread you see as political vs not. You started it.
I like the thread, and find it interesting, but am still trying to sort out what is and isn't considered politics here.
What's sad is the fact that there's a market for that kind of garbage... and a big market at that! Here's another old saying that applies: "Crazy like a fox." She knows who her audience is, and is playing to it.
Where is Ann Coulter a hot topic? I haven’t heard anything about her in years. I’m not on cable and only get the free public channels but they include NBC news, ABC news, FOX news and PBS news each evening. There may be additional commentary during other times that I don't get. What's sad is the fact that there's a market for that kind of garbage... and a big market at that!
True, by wording. However certain rights in the Constitution are known as "Clauses" or "Provisions". The Free speech clause/Provision, the Free Exercise clause, the Speech and debate clause, the Spending Clause, etc.As an aside, it might be interesting to take a look at what the First Amendment actually says:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
I bolded the above. In other words, it doesn't exactly say "you have free speech", but that Congress cannot make laws against it.
She had dropped from the limelight into obscurity, until she showed up on some podcast the 15th and made the cited comments.Where is Ann Coulter a hot topic? Right, and you can rest assured that the ACLU would also agree that she has the right to say her repulsive comments, just as they did for the American Nazi Party, back in 1978. https://www.aclu.org/other/aclu-history-taking-stand-free-speech-skokieI am not condoning her comments but we do have freedom of speech and I support her right to exercise it.
Ann Coulter may not be a "hot topic," but the type of inflammatory rhetoric she spews, which is mostly lies, is at the core of right-wing media platforms. It's polarizing society and what's tearing our nation apart.Where is Ann Coulter a hot topic? I haven’t heard anything about her in years. You may not like people "whining" (in your opinion) but "whining" is also free speech. There's another thread here where people are whining about how FEMA hasn't gotten involved in the toxic chemical spill disaster from the train wreck in Ohio. That's not the job of FEMA, but that doesn't stop the media from whining about it.
That's true, but nobody said it isn't.You may not like people "whining" (in your opinion) but "whining" is also free speech.
The whining, the hate speech, the divisive speech are of the sacred cow in today's society, I guess that's what makes our country great! You may not like people "whining" (in your opinion) but "whining" is also free speech.
