Unrealistic Character in Book

I am currently reading a novel in which the protagonist spends his own money and gives of his own resources to help his fellow townspeople during a disaster. He lives outside the town on his own isolated property, is single and is a multi-millionaire despite his simple lifestyle (no one in the town knows how wealthy he is). During a blizzard, he goes through the town on foot to check on people and bring them nourishment and other needed help. He has even invested from is own personal funds to help struggling businesses, people who need work or emotional support. He even located a young, attractive woman lost in the forest and never took advantage of her while bringing her back, which took several days. I have trouble believing this character. He seems almost too good to be true, like some sort of Superman. I think even a well-meaning heroic character must have some flaws to be believable. Opinions?

Read to the end of the book to see how it plays out. There may be a twist in the tale yet to come.

No he turned out to be perfect. He was even wounded in a knife fight (him against 20 other strong, armed men), but totally recovered. His wife had twins and he was baptized to the Christian religion. I surprised he didn't fly! LOL
