Update - Roof Replacement Cost

I posted previously about the new roof on my house. The roofer claimed they replaced 491 sq. ft. of wood which I knew was a lie because I watched the entire job from my living room window & was able to see how much wood was carried up to the roof. Since I couldn't prove it, I paid the extra $3,500.00 but I reminded the foreman that I would post a detailed review about the entire job. Greed took over (as usual). I posted reviews on 3 sites. Based on previous experience with greedy contractors, I knew that would resolve the matter.
The owner of the company phoned me & was very unhappy about my review. He also said he fired the foreman because he was exaggerating costs on jobs & keeping some of the money for himself. I said, "Big surprise, eh?"
After some discussion, he agreed to refund $1,150.00 if I deleted my review. I told him, "Since I'm happy with the job & I'm only disappointed in your greed, I will delete the review upon receipt of my refund."
He was in such a hurry to have my review deleted, he didn't want to mail me the check; he personally came by & brought it.

Isn't that what is called "The power of the pen?" :giggle:

Good for you. Whether it was really his foreman or not, bet he lost all kinds of business because of your review.

Not that I need either a flooring or kitchen cabinet company, because of what has been reported on FB I won’t be ever using 5 companies that have had terrible reviews. I might have looked at the one flooring company for a carpet, no way now.

Didn't they provide an estimate first? It seems like the cost of replacing a roof could be estimated down to the penny.

I love online reviews. I had problems with my movers breaking things such as a cabinet door, chair wheels, picture frame, and several other things. They were awful. I wrote a scathing review on Google reviews. They had all these rave reviews that were obviously fake or paid reviews, plus they didn't mention to me anything they broke, and I gave them a fairly generous tip. They tried to call me (I could tell by the caller ID) but I didn't bother to answer. The review is remaining up no matter what. The public needs to be warned about corrupt and incompetent workers.

I love the fact that we can "cancel" incompetent people and companies. :)

They couldn't provide an exact estimate because with a roof, they don't know how much rotten wood they will find until they remove the old shingles. That gives a greedy company lots of room.

I contacted a roofing company after a hail storm last year. Many of my neighbors had their roofs replaced. The company found some "pock marks" on the shingles but after really researching my homeowner's insurance with a huge deductible I was told that a new roof would cost $11,000. I will live with my pock marks, and you enjoy your new roof at a relatively low cost. (y)

"RELATIVELY LOW COST??" ROFLOL. The cost is determined by sq. ft. of the house.
$31,000. That was the smallest of 7 estimates. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
