US TV commercials!

Hoping we get to see some new and creative commercials during the Super Bowl next weekend.

I've noticed that the vulgar Jackson Hewitt commercial (what the buck!) has been taken off the air and replaced with a more ordinary type commercial for their tax prep service. I can't believe they actually thought that people would respond favorably to that offensive play on words. I saw complaints about that commercial on several different consumer websites.

For those who never saw it, here it is:
This commercial didn't leave soon enough for me. They don't deserve anyone's business after that was aired. It was so disgusting!

I hate watching commercials today and usually mute the TV. Years ago this was my favorite commercial.

This was one of my family's favorite. Loved to watch some, one was a sears ad I've been trying to find, various moments one a woman comes out twirling cake. Cake slides off plate she's stunned...

But I do agree with Firefox opinion "It’s all part of the progressive vulgarization of culture"

Where else can the Grammys give an award to a song with obscene lyrics.

I may be a teensy bit biased about that gynocologist's deodorant ads. Just because I have to grab the remote to immediately change the channel, and scream, "Oh God NO!!!, Not that ***** bi***"
I too was disgusted by the Lume commercial and thought it was a new low for a Board Certified Gynecologist to be advertising butt crack deodorant. I also have to grab the remote immediately and change the channels. In her earliest commercials she mentioned she was a Gyn but that has been dropped from some later ones. It seems like a sign of the times that doctors have become so unprofessional. I concluded a couple years ago that most marketing people who make commercials must be on cocaine, heroin or the latest designer drug.

I rarely watch commercials because everything is recorded on our DVR before I watch it, especially the news. On the rare occasion I turn off the DVR at lunchtime, there are commercials for bath fitters, ambulance chasers and all kinds of medications. Daytime television is definitely geared toward seniors.

I'm not offended by any race being portrayed in commercials because I am part of a bi-racial household. My "whiteness" doesn't make me angry or intimidated when I see other races in commercials. The ethnic makeup of our country is changing and we need to embrace it or move to Iceland. ;)

How can i say this without sounding like an evil Scrooge..... It's those ads for kid's hospitals, and other charities.. Those ads aren't free 'Public Service Announcements' They are paid ads in that a company makes a very expensive ad for the hospital/charity and TV stations agree to run the ad for a share of the money the ad generates in their viewing area. The charity is way down on the list of groups who actually share the wealth. Of course, the more the stations run the ad, the more contributions and the bigger their share. Some run the ads to death.

I guess you missed the point and I am sure I will be severely criticized for this comment, but has the Black population in the US increased to equal or well over 50 percent of the total US population? Is that the reason every commercial has one or more black actors and every married couple is a racially mixed couple? Come on, Man!!
The black population in the US is less than 14% but from their predominance on TV and other public venues it could appear to be more. This may be due to current state of tribalism in the US. There was a period between Martin Luther King and Barack Obama when integration with equal treatment for all was the ideal. Today however disintegration into tribalism where ethnic groups vie for dominance and special services is the norm. A community used to be a city or small town trying to provide equal services for all its diverse population. Now a community is a tribe such as an Asian community, Muslim community, African American community and so on. Many white people encourage this because they want a group they can feel superior and benevolent toward. If the US cannot achieve a government where every act must be for the good of all citizens and not just a few, I don’t think we will survive as a world power.
