US will allow pharmacists to administer vaccines to kids.....

I didn't know that was an option. Do you just tell them that you can't have the shot in your arm and they agree to shoot you in the hip?
That's exactly what I do @StarSong....one visit a nurse suggested it and on another visit a different nurse objected saying its not as effective cause of the fat content in that area.....I believe any vaccination is better received into the body thru muscle....
she checked with the doc and finally came back all huffy puffy about it....I said I'll take my chances.

This is so good to know. Thanks!

If it is any comfort my doc said years ago most of the time shingles goes away in a few days. I was vaccinated before talking to him and would not have insisted on the vaccine had I talked to him earlier.

Funny, my doctor had the opposite point of view. He said shingles can be a terrible disease, and it can linger on for months. I think it's particularly dangerous as people get older.

He is not usually an alarmist, but he was a strong advocate of getting the vaccine. So why not? One less disease to worry about.

I had the single shingles shot and then the series of two. Two people close to me who have very high thresholds for pain were both debilitated by shingles. Based on their experience and my extreme wimpiness for physical discomfort, it was clear that I'd need a morphine drip to get through the shingles. Much better to avoid it altogether.
