Using Opposite Gender bathroom

Another thread got me to thinking - Have you ever used the opposite gender public restroom?

I sure have! I was in a Chinese restaurant and whatever I ate didn’t agree with me…I’ll spare you the details. I ran to the ladies room, someone was using it and a woman was waiting to use it next But I couldn’t wait. So I glanced at the men’s room door, knocked, no one said anything, I loudly said “Woman coming in!”. I went in, locked the door, and did what I had to do. Whew.

I have too... If the ladies bathroom is occupied and the Mens is open.. I use it.. Some people love to camp out in there with no consideration for others that may need to use it.... I'm not talking about sitting on the throne... but doing hair... putting on makup... etc..

On the mainland (Europe) it is perfectly normal.

If you're in a rest area on a motorway (freeway) and a coach pulls in the ladies rarely wait for a cubicle in their own facility, they just pile into the gents.

Similarly with lady cleaners - they never bother with making sure the gents is empty, or putting signs on the door, they just go in and do their job.

I was quite used to this nut I used to get a bit nonplussed when a mop appeared down on the floor between my legs!

Yep loads of times...but apart from recently when I mistook the mens' for the ladies and there was a guy at the urinal... :danger:, I've always ensured there's no men in there...

I haven't myself but recently I was in a store where another lady did. I was next in line for the ladies room and she came up behind me. She couldn't be still. She was shifting from one foot to the other. There was someone in the mens room but he came out. She asked me if I wanted to go next into the men's room. I told her no, for her to go ahead. There was no doubt that she had to go worse than I did so I let her go on.

Only once when I was in urgent need and the ladies room was out of order with a tape across the door. I mean, what else can a woman do in such a situation but use the men's room? So I did but that's not the end of the story. A man came in and started taking a whiz in the urinal. I freaked a bit and said from my stall "There's a lady in here!"

omg that's funny Chic. I bet that's the last thing he expected to hear.

I've used the men's if I couldn't wait..but only if it was a lockable door. Men won't bang on the door the way women do.

I have never had to use a men's ...although that's a bit of a fib......:laugh:where we dance near home the four of us ... or somethimes six of us ALL use a mens ..we are the only ones who use the hall in the middle of a padlock about 15km from town ..The ladies was continually costing money to fix and as we maintain the hall and any areas we use we all voted to just keep the men's in working order ..If any of us want to go we make sure the others are in the hall before venturing out the back..

I have come close to walking into the men's while someone's been in there at the Museum, it's part of my duty as a volunteer
to unlock/ lock toilets which are up the backyard ( original toilets for school built in 1879) I now make a habit of calling out before getting to the entrance of toilets which only have a steel framed chicken wire gate for main door into the toilets.

When I had two bathrooms in a house they were always assigned a gender so that the ladies could do non-essential things at their leisure...

Back when I used to drink in bars and do a lot of drugs, we'd frequently take over the ladies room, it was generally cleaner, bigger and had more flat surfaces for putting stuff on. Girls always got mad, we told 'em they could use the men's room bwaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaa...............

Seems to me from this thread that MOST ladies have used the opposite genders' bathroom on occasion. Makes me wonder why all the hoopla about Transexuals using the ladies room..

"so that the ladies could do non-essential things at their leisure..."

Are you suggesting for one moment that some of the things ladies do in bathrooms are non-essential?

Shame on you.

It seems that hair styling, applying lipstick, etc. could be done away from the necessity...

We had pulled in late to a RV park in Massachusetts and I went up to the bathhouse to take a shower. I thought I was going into the ladies' side. So, I'm taking a shower and someone starts showering in the next stall, which had walls that were open about 2 feet off the floor. I see the hairiest feet I've ever seen on a woman and then the "woman" starts singing in a deep baritone. Oops....I'm in the men's room. So I stay in the stall until the other person leaves and make a hasty retreat - very hasty.
