VA Hospital Patient's Nightmare, Faulty Procedures and Dirty Instruments = HIV and Hep C Infections

I've heard stories like this, but my own experience with VA medical centers across the country has been uniformly satisfactory. As I mentioned in my post about Flu shots, I was in the ER of the Cincinnati VA hospital at 3:00 AM Christmas day and I was treated with unusual courtesy by everyone I encountered.

Good to hear some positives Josiah.

I would venture to guess that there are "horror" stories to be found at any facility if one digs hard enough. We all operate throught the filters of our own experiences after all. My son has gotten his medical care throught the VA for 10 years now.. and it has been nothing but first class. I would know a bit about that after all.

I hate to say it but I hope this is from ignorance and negligence and not a lack of money buying the best for our vets even if it's hospital leadership that can keep on top of practices like this. Disgraceful.

That was my thought. When I hear about the "lack of decent care" at a VA Hospital, it pisses me off bad. Our military deserves the best of, and from what I hear, they aren't getting the best of healthcare, and lousy pay. My Uncle worked in the VA Hospital his whole life but unfortunately, I never got to know him well enough to learn more about his service. He was all about jokes, but I know a lot of medical folks have to laugh or they'd be crying the whole time.

I hope VA hires aren't personal favors or the lowest bidder. I thought federal jobs came with higher pay which should attract a better applicant.
