It's apparently starring Robert Downey, Jr., presumably in the Scottie role, and being screen written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), so evidently it is in the works.
That's pretty shocking, considering that Hitchcock's Vertigo is one of the greatest films of all time, maybe even the greatest. I don't know whether it's an ego project, or whether the money people will just be trying to develop revenue piggybacking on the success & fame of the classic.
There has been plenty of tut-tutting over the years re Jimmy Stewart being an older man, whereas Kim Novak was a young starlet. But Stewart was only 49 when Vertigo was shot. Downey is already 59, and filming has not started.
Who knows what they'll come up with, but IMO a re-make would be fraught with peril.
