Virginia Will Arrest Your Kids For Trick or Treating if Over 12

My grandson is 6 and looks and acts 8.
Dont mess with him!
Must be the only town in the country without a drug problem, meth labs and domestic violence if they can waste their law enforcement and court resources on this!!!!!

When I was a kid Halloween was mainly for the kids and teens. Sadly my generation kind of took it over and it has become more of an adult event now. It would be nice if that changed. Sure there are teens who use the night as an excuse to be unruly but I'm in no position to judge them. I wasn't exactly a saint on Halloween night when I was an older teen. I'm sure stores sold a lot of eggs and toilet paper on that day.

My dad is now 88 and grew up in rural central Texas and I remember him telling me the pranks he and his friends use to pull on Halloween night. Some of the things they use to do he is ashamed of now.

You're right....it has become more of an adult holiday . I heard just recently that it is THE [more-favored] holiday by adults. One reason why it ranks over Christmas ....they say.... Is because it is much less stressful.

I know that the 3 or 4 houses of young adults that live behind me....sure have a ball with it. LOL...they take their kids out, but the party is across their yards.

Mark, I'm also guilty of pranks. And so was my own mother when she was a teen! :D

I think that we were pretty tame compared to some of the pranks from the old days!!!

My mother and her friends cut someone's clothesline down. They were loooong in those days and propped up by posts.

She tied the guy's front door to his back door, rang the doorbell and ran. He couldn't get out of his house except by window.

I thought it was genius.

It doesn't bother me if the middle school kids come Trick or Treating....As long as I have enough candy left....

I love the little one's dressed so cute and their parents are with them....I have a lit pumpkin in the front window....

Exactly. Let kids be kids for as long as they can.
When we were kids we left at about 6 and came home about 9 and we went out until grade 8, meaning we were 13 years old.
We knew to come home once we got those unfriendly hints that it was too late and we were too old, but not many complained.
Halloween was one night out of the year where we could go out independently , get as much candy as we could and go back home with no questions asked. My two brothers would team up together and I usually went by myself. Sometimes I went with a neighbour. It was always super fun but I can honestly say I never did anything mischievous ....
Ok maybe one egg:laugh:

One of my dad's stories includes a clothesline also. Must have been a thing back in the day :)

if you can remember it, why not tell us?

I don't remember the exact details but apparently back in the 1930's some people in the small city in Clifton Texas still used outhouses. Apparently a big thing to do was to find a way to block the outhouse from the inside so the owner of the home could not enter it without taking off the door. Now that I think about it, I'm not exactly sure how they blocked a door that opened outwards. They also threw eggs at homes and the usual stuff that got passed down.

He told me of another Halloween when they had pulled off a prank (I don't remember what) and they were running off and one of his friends ran into a clothesline. It was neck level. The kid was fine but scared the heck out of him.

How about the authorities don't interfere with how I disperse my candy?
