Virtual reality traveling questions.

I've been looking into getting a VR headset so I can travel and explore while sitting on my couch. lol Looking into it I've discovered there's much you can do in VR, travel, flying, racing, climbing, learning, just all sorts of things.

Has anyone done this kind of thing? Are you using free sites or paid? I'm curious about the experience and what you like or don't like, also curious about the gear and favorite sites you use.

I think if I had a reasonable amount of savings, I would explore "virtual reality". There is an avalanche of apps and uses for it and it is constantly being refined. I bet there are a bunch of YouTube videos about it. :)

There are plenty of YouTube clips, watching them is one of the reasons I've become interested in the subject. The headsets are a bit pricey, $300/$500 seems to get a decent set, and some of the apps are free, such as Google earth.

Wish I knew someone that had a headset I could test and see if I liked it.

Have you tried testing a set out at a store , @C50 ? I understand that Apple makes VR glasses, and they would have them at the Apple Store where you could try out a pair and decide of they would do what you want.
They are probably one of the more expensive VR glasses, so you should get a good experience in how well they work, and some expert advice while you are trying out a pair to see if you like them.
Once you have tried one style, then you can mare easily compare brands and see which ones have what you like, and the best price.

I used to love Google earth. Hovering over Santa Barbara, out reaches of Iran. I bet the headsets would be great. You've given me an idea! ✈
