Walking barefooted? How often do you, if at all? Health benefits?

As often as possible, though much less so come Winter.

Reminds me of the roasting hot top layer of beach sand from the shoreline up to the grasses and pine needles back at the treeline. Ouch, ouch, ouch - stop and dig your feet deep into the cool sand a couple of inches below the surface. Then ouch, ouch, ouch another 10 or 15 steps. Why did I forget to bring the shoes down this time?

Always barefooted in the house and flip flops in the yard and comfortable sneakers or shoes for everything else. On days when the ceramic tile gets cold I should wear socks. I have a touch of Neuropathy the last couple of years when the tile gets cold.

I go barefooted every day all year around except when I have to wear socks. But even then I go barefooted anyway. This is Hawaii so that probably makes more sense, except when my feet get cold (actually freezing).

Same here. I made a mistake of doing housework once in bare feet and got his for my trouble when I stubbed my little toe on the edge of furniture. It still hurts once in a while:

Me too, I'm always whacking my toe if I don't have my toes covered. That looks way worse than the times I hurt my toes. Poor you!

Walking barefoot can lead to foot scrapes and infections. If you still insist on walking barefoot, PLEASE wear socks. At least they can prevent splinters and cuts.
I can't recall how many of us kids stepped on boards with nails in them over the years and had to get tetanus shots. Looking back, it was really just part of growing up. Much like squishing through the mud and muck in shallow ponds chasing frogs.

I guess some of us just grew up living closer to the land.

after many bouts of plantar fasciitis, i tend to wear some sort of shoe everywhere, except at home especially during the summer. i find walking on rocks at the shoreline or in the water to be particularly painful.
@ Anne Teak, I would also find that painful, my feet are sensitive...

I also have several pairs of handmade moccasins that feel pretty darn natural and comfortable walking around in.
Almost like walking barefooted ... kinda :ROFLMAO:

@ Naturally, these look comfy :)

I was just thinking about any things I have stepped on while barefoot in days gone by to present,
far too many to list, but the past year only, a few would be, a thumb tack on the rug, a small piece
of glass on the outside deck, a fingernail clipper, and a cap from a bottle, otherwise I stub my toe
on the end of the bed frame occasionally, or some hard surface elsewhere, and this is mostly why
I need some sort of coverage on my feet outdoors, sort of accident prone at times just a little.
I don't prefer anything between my toes, it feels annoying to me lol, but do only now and then
where foot thongs..

Several years ago stepping on a bumble bee while barefoot and one of those horrible looking
spiders, yeah that I went to the emergency room for. Got an infection from it..

Thank you. I understand what you're saying. But I am 76 and have walked barefoot in the house since I was born and no scrapes or cuts. Now that I said that of course I'm going to get scrapes and cuts.

Walking barefoot gives me the creeps. I only did it once when I was young and that was enough for me. I couldn't do it now anyway. Decades ago, I was diagnosed with heel spurs...very painful. I was told to wear rubber sole shoes. I also began cushioning my feet almost always. I have rubber tub slippers that get washed before I shower and right as I wash my feet. I always wear one inch rubber slippers in the house.

As soon as I get home, the shoes come off. A lot of the time I have socks on, but I'll take them off if I'm really hot. I put something on when out in my yard because it's rough, long stabby pine needles, pine cones, pieces of tree twigs, the big birds like Magpies and Crows make huge nests in my spruce/pine trees and they ultimately fall to the ground because the birds are fighting or there's a battle with the squirrels.

I have an old pair of short waterproof boots that I can just step into easily in my garage, and I do that when I'm in the yard mowing, or just now when I went out to put on the sprinkler.

I also have an old pair of swim shoes, never used for swimming, but handy and comfortable to walk in the yard or to the mailbox. Back when I was working I had Plantar Fasciitis for some time, but massaging magnesium oil into my arches a couple of times a day. I did get relief and it's been years since I had any pain from it.

My puppy chews on wood, pinecones and will bring in an occasional brier, so I will step on things that I have to remove immediately, my feet are not tough. For the most part, on home turf, I'm barefoot to some degree. My husband is the same way, we like to be comfy at home.

Peripheral neuropathy and plantar faschitis means that I just cannot walk barefoot for more than a few steps without great pain. Even at the beach, I wear water shoes for protection.

It was hard in India visiting the temples barefoot. I did it but I paid a price in pain. Then I broke me foot while there and that really put the cherry on the cupcake.
I can't do barefoot either. Mostly I wear Skechers or Easy Spirit mules.
