Walking, walking & more walking.

I don't jump on the rebounder. I step back and forth and do leg curls and kicks, etc. -- as in a gentle aerobics class -- for 30 minutes a day.
Well good for you doing what you can. Exercise, any exercise, is better than not.

Do you have arthritic knees? Or something else? Sorry if I seem nosey, but after my surgery I think a lot about knees...

If I don't get the amount I want at the mall, later I go to Wal Mart. Now I like to walk where there are people.
I've tried to get some steps at Walmart and other big stores but I can't walk briskly enough, I get frustrated by the dawdling pace there.

The retirement community I'm moving to has some nice walking paths and a fitness room, but probably as soon as real winter sets in I'll prefer to buy a cheap little treadmill and get my steps at home.

On Thanksgiving I tried out the walking paths in my new (soon) place:

I've never been to the doctor about it, but according to me and Google, it's torn meniscus. (Actually plural, torn menisci.)

I did the recommended exercises, but they were boring, I only did them for a few minutes a day, and they didn't help. The improvement with the rebounder was quite unexpected. I'm definitely not quitting!

I recently acquired a basic treadmill. I walk very slowly on it (mostly backwards). I think the problem with outdoor walking is that I walk faster and less carefully.

I like to go walking for exercise and walking in a mall among a lot of people is where I go. I do it slow, and sit down and rest once in awhile. Plus, watching people is what I enjoy also. I try really hard to get 10,000 steps in, and it takes alot of effort. If I don't get the amount I want at the mall, later I go to Wal Mart. Now I like to walk where there are people. I used to walk in a park for walkers, or around where I live. And I used to take my dog with me.
I live in the country and I walk my county roadways about every other day in the winter (weather permitting) and in the gym, walk and exercise at least twice a week. I try for 3 miles each time. Of course I listen to podcasts as I walk😁.

Three miles is excellent! Keep up the good work. By the way, I visited your daisy blog and enjoyed looking at your wonderful creations.

One of the major reasons we haven't downsized...we have a big, circular driveway on acreage that permits us do do our 3 miles each day without fending off cars, people or dogs!
You must have quite some acreage. We have a 2-1/2 acre lot, I've cleared a swatch around the perimeter for a dog walking path. It's fenced to keep people animals and zombies out.

That is a different animal from my osteoarthritis, so I have little expertise. However in the process I have met a few people who got arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus, it seemed to work and was a much less invasive surgery than what I got. I met one man who was able to heal his with exercise and the help of a physical therapist, so it is sometimes possible.

I know you live in an isolated place, but is there some way to get to a doctor. It would help to at least be sure what your problem is, and can start a more successful treatment.

Painful knees are hell, I feel for you, and hope you can find some relief. As I recall you are about the same age as I, 70, too young to give up!

Thank you, @Alligatorob . There are a couple of doctors here, but I'm not going to go the doctor route. It only hurts when I walk too far, so I feel like I'm okay for now.

I hadn't heard of that kind of surgery. Thank you for the information. I'll keep it in mind, just in case!

Yes, now that is me also. However, I walk in the city places. Exercise and wine. Yes, I said wine. The doctor said a little wine every and again is very good. Just a little and red wines. Ok, now I have heard it from a doctor. I don't crave wines or beers, just know that it relaxes me and it is healthy.

Great exercise! And can be fun.

I used to walk a lot, hiking and outdoors. We don't have a mall anywhere nearby. However my knees got in the way, once they are healed from the surgery I am hoping I can do more. It is kind of cold and snowy right now, may wait for spring...

I agree, and that is not hard around here. However I also don't like seeing a lot of snow...

Is that because of your legs? I know you use a rebounder, seems like walking would not be harder. Or is it your climate?
In 2019 I had a knee replacement and 5-6 months later, I was back to line dancing!!! And I love it now, glad I had it done.

I rarely 'walk' per se, but prior to our recent trip I was stair walking 100 or 100+ flights of stairs per session maybe 5 days a week. Was recuperating from a Covid/Flu attack which left me coughing.......have been using the elliptical until I'm convinced it's time to resume.
First day back...(after about a week on the elliptical every day)....took it easy...just did 50 flights of stairs...half or less than my usual. Thus far, thus good.
