Wanted to mention the Gelatin I've been using

Doug got me started on taking gelatin everyday. It's been about 15 days or more now, stopped counting, just a habit now. I noticed my skin is softer. True, Winter is passing now, and maybe my skin was dryer because of the weather, but it could be the gelatin. If anyone else is taking gelatin (Doug has let me know a lot about the benefits he is getting) I would love to know if you are seeing changes. I started using it mostly for aching joints/arthritis but I am looking forward to the other benefits I 've read about. Hope they come true, Denise

Denise, my knees are a little creaky lately and I thought about you and what you said about gelatin, but I think it was in another thread here. I'm curious to know if you're still taking it daily and what benefits you've noticed from it, thanks. :)

Years ago I took it. We used to believe that it made our nails grow. Recently someone told me that gelatine/jello was made from crushed bones and thefore is good for our bones. Do you think that could be true?

Gelatin is made from the collagen-bearing tissues of any animal that is slaughtered for consumption. Any traces of "meat" is removed by chemicals and water and what's left is the pure collagen. This is why Jello is considered "pareve" under Jewish Kosher standards (except for a few ultra Orthodox standards), able to be consumed with either meat meals or dairy meals, as it is considered neither meat nor dairy.

I actually made Jello tonight, as I get a hankering for it occasionally. Especially with whipped cream.....childhood delight.
