We spent the weekend relocating and now we’re fully moved in to the new house and wrapped up with the old one!
When I drove away from the old house for the last time, I was overcome and had to pull over. I sobbed against my steering wheel for several minutes. It wasn’t that I was sad to be leaving. On the contrary, I felt like I was releasing all the pent up negative emotion of having forced myself to continue to live where there were so many triggers and negative memories, and the sheer relief of never having to be there again was overwhelming and so incredibly freeing.
The move itself was flawless. My move guy and his crew were fantastic. I work with Billy from time to time for my clients. He’s a concierge mover and is truly amazing. He’s not the cheapest but his expertise, care and efficiency is worth every penny.
The unpacking is slow going. We did our best to purge and get rid of things before the move because we have less square footage, less storage space. We did well with the gauging the furniture we can use, but the boxed stuff is where I’m having trouble. I still have way too much stuff for the space we’re in!
This was the kitchen area immediately after everything got unloaded. Believe it or not there’s a table and chairs under there!
