I wonder about this sometimes. Somewhat related are OTC aids aimed for the young. They are coming for our children!

"Support"? What does that even mean, really?
Ok kids, shut up and get to sleep now!
Drugging kids to sleep bothers me.

4 and 5 year olds are changing their own diapers! "Hey Mommy Wow. I'm a big kid now".
Sells more product; what an increase that idea was!

Do you remember when Pfizer proposed vaccinating all food-producing livestock and everyone's pets against covid? Think of the many more $trillions that would have generated ....and when would it end?
I don't remember that and can't find anything about it. Only that they did some animal trials in the earliest phases of COVID vacc clinical trials.

Yes, they proposed an animal vax, but it went nowhere because no one was willing to fund the trials.

If I can find my source, I'll post it, or PM it. But it's probably way down a very long list of saved reports and stuff, so I'm not very hopeful. (I gotta organize that stuff)

This reminds me of something that, at least in my mind, seems related. There's now a "super-safe infant" industry that at least sometimes seems suspiciously opportunistic. It proffers advice, and for all I know may be tied to the sales of books & gear. All sorts pf individuals & companies seem to be searching for a niche.

Friends of ours, late 30s to 40 or so... Both are sharp-minded & well educated. She's born Canadian while he is an immigrant from France. They've explained to us that they've adopted the practice of having their very young daughter sleep without blankets. Somehow from somewhere, they absorbed the belief that blankets on sleeping young children can occasionally result in death. I wonder to myself, how many children, even in the last few hundred years, sleeping under blankets, died due to the blanket hazard?!🤔😵‍💫

I thought that the 4T-5T, on those pull-up diapers package,
would mean Toddler sizes, not 4-5 years old.

But I agree with the main points, regardless.

Then, back to that package label...... it says fits up to 50 pounds.?
A toddler that size?
That would be very uncommon; or at least I hope it would be!o_O

The larger sized diapers are something I can understand. If you have a child bed with wetting problems, these can be a morale saver for those kids. My kids had this and there were no options for them for sleepovers; only worry. A very tall family friend was lucky enough to have these when he was ten. He slept like a log or no sleep at all when he wasn't home Nobody had to know he was wearing them on those nights away.

I believe there is a school of thought nowadays that parents are not so much giving their kids orders, like an authoritarian parent would. Instead, there is much co-operation going on. I don't know what the term for it is. It's basically making the toddler an equal or nearly equal team member with the parents - even with toilet training.

In other words, the large sizes are because if little Joe doesn't want to use the toilet all the time by the time he is 2.5 or 3, we will wait for Joe to get on board with the team. Wait until he's 3.5 or even 4 years old to be 100% toilet trained all the time.

Because they don't want to form any traumatic training memories in his brain. I think this is how it goes. I don't even want to KNOW what the poor Pre-K teachers have to deal with now with these 4-year-olds in diapers.

I'm not a fan of authoritarian parenting at all. But sometimes you do have to have the freedom to give your child a command and the expectation that they know, can hear in your voice, when you are making a command and when you're ready to have a negotiation with them over god-knows-what. Like, "Stop right there - a is car coming!" We're not going to negotiate that!!! I said stop, you're stopping and yes I'm gonna yell at you if I have to.

But today's parents, God love 'em. they want the world to be a forever-gentle place for their kids, even when it comes to pee & poop. No deadlines - you just wear that pull-up all the way to Kinder if you feel like it.

IDK. In real life, there are so many deadlines. People miss them and suffer the consequences. In real life, I got commands in my workplaces, didn't you? In real life, OMG I have worked for some authoritarian beetaches and beeasterds. You gonna hope your child will not have deadlines or an authoritarian boss in the future?

IDK - maybe they dream of a world where some nice boss will let their kids work 32-hours a week, fully flexible schedules, and still earn $160,000 a year as a teacher. (Hahaha).

The large sizes are also for some very big toddlers, which do exist.

Most 4 and 5 year olds should be long out of diapers. What the heck?

The photo showed pull ups.

Many 4 - 5 year olds are not dry at night and wear pull ups - easy for them to get on and off themselves and to take down like underpants if they do wake to go to the toilet.

And yes, they come in larger sizes for older or larger children who are bed wetters - or children with special needs.

Not sure what anyone's issue is with these.

Yeah, I hate that crap. Get 'em while they're young, create that dependency early on.

It's evil, man.

I remember. It was not so long ago.

This is standard advice in Australia as it is a factor in cot deaths.

Your friends are following reputable recomendations, not just something they 'somehow absorbed from somewhere'

Babies are recomended to use sleeping bags or thick bedsuits that they cannot get over their head like they could a blanket.

Nothing opportunistic or related to commercial interests.

How old is the child? That matters. This site says 12 months before they should sleep with a blanket. Makes perfect sense to me. When Can Your Baby Sleep With a Blanket?
Helping Babies Sleep Safely

So were they talking child or baby?
