Week of Mayhem Coming

Everything here has been good...until today. Weather on TV annaonces major storm starting now (which it is) for 3 days of high winds of 50 mph, heavy snow of up to 2 feet +, and they are asking for people to prepare for electricity to go out, and on top of all that we have been on a restricted water usuage for a week and the problem is not fixed because some part from China is going to take forever to get here.

Add to that the grocery order today was f'ed up. Instead of the 2 steaks I ordered the buyer brought me---you guessed it---LAMB CHOPS. I don't eat them for personal reasons.

I immediately gave them to my neighbor for consumption. She also brought the wrong ice cream, but on that I will manage.

Have a good week, y'all.

I have my supplies, my flashlight, my king sized duvet. What could be better, eh?

As much as I hate winter now, I'm grateful that here in New York, we don't have winters like we did in the 1950's and 1960's. Especially like in the 1950's. I'll never forget the winter of 1958. We lived in a one story house and the snow was up to the roof. The snow and cold were brutal.
I believe you.....

In the 50's and 60's my aunt and uncle who lived in Toronto used to send pictures of the snow right up to the top of their door, and them shovelling it out... this was quite a regular occurence..

Take care and try to stay warm during the blizzard, @dusty . It is good that you know what to expect and are prepared. We had winter blizzards a lot back when I was growing up in Idaho, and lots of snow then, too; so I know that having all that snow is no fun at all to deal with.

This is me and my dog, Bonzo, on top of the snow pile after the road was plowed. You can see that the snow is almost up to the roof of the building behind me.

I cannot imagine that much snow. How in the world does one deal with it? Open the door to face a wall of snow and even if you have a shovel inside, where do you shovel it to? The bathtub?
Central New York, blizzard of 93.

I remember walking on top of those sheer walls of snow when I was a kid in the 60s.

They are created by giant old and very dangerous truck mounted snowblowers that the state uses to clear major drifts.

I had a similar experience during the Covid pandemic. I ordered a pretty ordinary grocery list to be delivered. I asked for six grapefruits, and got six oranges. Everything that came in a box was in the wrong size box. I got enough crackers to cater a major ballroom event. And there were no eggs, which I badly needed.

The next day I went to the store and got the eggs (the shelves were full of eggs, no shortage). I wore a mask and gloves; at the beginning of the pandemic many of us were probably overcareful. But I returned home just fine and never ordered groceries again.
