One of the biggest Christmas street markets in Berlin has been attacked by muslims. Nine people dead, 50 plus seriously injured as truck deliberately drives into Christmas shopping crowds.

Developing.

I fear thet with the vast number of gastarbeiter from Turkey that Germany took in in the post war years and then permitted to remain which IMO was a very bad move, and then Mad Merkel inviting more than a million so called refugees into germany so envouraging mass illegal immigration and bogus asylum seekers there is going to be all hell break out very soon.

There is a huge problem in most European countries with the millions of people swarming in with absolutely no intent of adapting to the host nations societies and now increasingly attacking the host nations.

In France whole districts around the major cities are literally no go areas and where life is as near as dammit to life in the horrible places these people came from.

In Paris are areas called Banlieue where even everyday life has been changed beyond recognition. Where even indigenous French women are forced from going to cafés or the otherwise very popular Bistro, a part of French life that goes to the bone, and Islam and all that with it goes dominates absolutely.

Similar in Belgium, Holland, and further north life in Sweden is now unrecognisable.

Over here the big cities have areas that are totally Islamic in all but name and I really can't see people putting up with the changes being forced on them much longer.

Another reason that we're very relieved to be clinging on a rock on an adjacent island and not on the adjacent island.

Well put, Aeron. Germany, Sweden and others made very big mistakes in allowing virtually uncontrolled immigration. No, not immigration - invasion by another name. Every act of terrorism like this is playing into the hands of the extreme Right. Merkel will have to change her tune before it's too late.

I hate to say it, but sometimes I think that Donald Trump has some good ideas.

The driver has been captured alive; his passenger and accomplice died in the crash.

The passenger was the original Polish driver of the vehicle - he was dead the whole time. Not an accomplice at all - another victim. At least that's what I'm getting out of the news.

I read they are not sure the man in custody is actually the driver.

As to the dead man in the passenger seat being the original driver, it would appear he was killed by the driver while hijacking the truck. But I thought I hear on the news last night that police shot through the windshield. It all seems confusing at this time.

Terrible tragedy, I heard the terrorist responsible for this is still on the loose. I think the authorities took some specific precautions during the Thanksgiving Day parade in NY so something like this wouldn't happen, I heard they used some sandbags and vehicles so no unauthorized cars or trucks could threaten the parade goers.

It's not a tragedy other than for the victims. It's cold blooded murder.

Although road blocks can be used the scope for inhuman attacks by inhuman filth can not be prevented. Be it a single devotee attacking a small group or a homicide bomber attacking a group of people the attacks against the general public can not be prevented.

There is only one solution but the Christian ethics of our society prevent such a solution being undertaken and we are in terrible danger because of our own decency.

Terrorism puts Merkel in the hot seat they took in more than they can handle so now the country is paying for it, were stupid if we ignore this warning or well be next

"Ramming a semi-truck into a crowded Berlin Christmas market Dec. 19 killing 12 , injuring 46, 62-year-old German Chancellor Angela Merkel faces new criticism for her open-door policy with Mideast refugees. Considered a hero by left wing groups sympathetic to Mideast and North African refugees, Merkel’s open-door policy has backfired with each terrorist attack on German soil. President-elect Donald Trump warned Merkel and other European Union leaders about the dangers of un-vetted Mideast refugees seeking asylum or work in Europe. Merkel’s pro-refugee policy, pressuring EU states to take their “fair share” of refugees, prompted the June 23 Brexit vote, pushing Great Britain out of the EU. Merkel bent over backwards proving Germany’s the most open immigrant-friendly country in the EU, only to watch her policy backfire, creating problems for her 2017 re-election

Merkel admitted after terrorist attacks back in July that her open-door policy needed some revision. Yesterday’s terrorist attack raises more questions about Merkel’s liberal refugee policy. Trump’s rise to power sends a loud message across the pond that the new administration will be far more security-conscious than the Obama administration. Former Democratic nominee Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton planned to follow in Merkel’s lead, allowing a 550% increase in Syrian refugees into the U.S. Under Trump, Obama and Hillary’s liberal immigration policy comes to a screeching halt. “There are still months to go before the [German] elections, and she [Merkel] has plenty of time to show that the government is on top of the terrorist threat,” said Ian Bond, foreign policy director at the Center for European Reform. Bond thinks Merkel can survive recent terrorist attacks as long as they’re not repeated before parliamentary elections. Backing Syrian rebels to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Merkel caused the refugee problem

There are at least 109 verses in the Quran calling for "Death to Infidels". Western politicians might be well advised to consider this before opening their borders to refugees. It only takes a few "fanatics" among the refugees to commit mayhem in the nations who take them in. There is NO WAY to determine who these radicals might be.

Not fanatics, devout or even remotely devout.

There is always crazy fanatics around but it's only fair to point out that there are many Muslims who just want to live a good and peaceful life. In America there are many devout Muslims who are good people and good citizens, they serve in our military and love our country, they are caring doctors and nurses, kind people who contribute to society and reject anything in their religion that involves killing and violence. I feel sad for those people who are now looked at badly because of a few radical terrorists who have committed horrible crimes. But when I see what's happening in Europe, I'm fearful that the same thing may happen here one day too. I don't want to ban these people, but we do have to acknowledge when they attack us and not excuse it away. Like the Orlando killings, on the news they focused on the fact that it was gays involved, but it was much more than that, it was another radical Islamic attack on this country. Once we can admit that freely we can begin to control it.

Christmas in Australia, one in all in, including the Muslim families

In the case of the German Christmas market attack, it was one Muslim man only, not 'muslims', and apparently the police were aware of him but were not watching carefully enough.

The Pakistani man that they interviewed first has been cleared and the Polish man found dead in the truck was murdered. He was not an accomplice.

They were aware of the San Bernadino shooters I recall, but weren't watching closely enough to avoid the attack. That has to change. You make some good points Warrigal and that's such a nice picture you posted.

I'm not knocking you, but "us" in general. We often try to avoid the reality of the situation by kind of blaming the police, or whoever, for not watching the ones that do a lot of damage as terrorists. But what is their option? If they locked 'em up and throw away the keys BEFORE they did anything we would condemn that as unfair treatment. So again, what is their option? The problem is once you let them among you in a free society, you're screwed if they want to do you harm... especially if they live in a community that basically wants to protect them.

Nobody should ever be arrested in this country before they commit a crime but the reporting of the activities of these terrorists shouldn't be the burden of neighbors snitching on them and risking chance of serious retaliation. If they were on the police radar they would have had reason to obtain a warrant for search just by the heavy traffic in and out of their house and the excess package deliveries. The murders could have been avoided if they saw what those radicals were up to. The community didn't want to protect the, they were just afraid to report them, understandable.

The communities aka neighbourhoods have for some time been morphing into colonies. The colonies do not want to integrate with the host nations, instead they are jouning up with others, want to expand and gain greater and greater influence within the host nation with the declared objective to take over and install sharia rule.

And they are succeeding.
