Weird thoughts...what are yours?

OK, here's one I sometimes have. When I was younger and poor, In often opted for buying cheap stuff that didn't last. So it wasn't long before I would have to buy it again. Now that I am a bit better off I find I can buy the better stuff that's going to last a long time. But then what am I accomplishing by buying stuff that's going to last "a lifetime"? I'm 72 years old. The better part of my lifetime is in the rear view mirror. So this "lifetime" whatever it is that I am buying is going to end up being sold to someone else at a garage sale or the Salvation Army thrift shop for at best 10 cents on the dollar.
