Welcome To Coffee Corner

I was just reading that China has overtaken Starbuck's coffee shops with their own Coffee Shops that make $2 coffee called Luckin Coffee. China is Starbuck's 2nd largest market after the US. I wonder which coffee is better.
How Luckin Coffee overtook Starbucks as the largest coffee chain in China.

“Luckin was able to expand so fast because of its operating model — which includes self-operated stores and franchises,”
said Li of Momentum Works. Meanwhile, Starbucks’ stores worldwide are company-owned and the American coffee chain does not franchise operations, according to its website. Instead, it sells licenses to operate. In the quarter ended July 2, the company opened 588 new stores — about 40% of Luckin’s count.

"It's 2019, and food scientists have invented tons of innovative and sustainable replicas already. The next product to get converted into a groundbreaking substitute? Coffee."

"Atomo Coffee has invented what they are calling “Molecular Coffee,” the first-ever to be made with zero coffee beans. The product instead consists of a “ground coffee look-alike” that can be put through a brewer or coffee maker just like standard grounds. Atomo’s head food scientist, Jarret Stopforth, PhD., developed the product through identifying the key aroma and flavor compounds in coffee, naturally sourcing them and creating a coffee ground-like base they could be added to." Scientists don't seem to be happy unless they are pumping our body with a bunch of chemicals we do not need.

I also read that by 2080 the World will be without coffee. Seems the temps will become warmer at the higher altitudes where the coffee plants are and this warmer temp will allow a certain fungus that attacks the coffee plants grow and do it's dirty work. (Along with the disappearing bananas and bees?)

"There's nothing better than a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning or during a camping trip. The problem, though, is that if you happen to be out in nature, powering everything else besides your coffee maker. After all, a coffee maker is never enough by itself. For a hot cup of coffee, you need to heat water and have a portable stove on hand. If this isn't available, you need to put your a iron pot on the fire to boil water (and it's probably coated with bacon grease, making for water that isn't optimal to put in your french press)."

"That's where solar-powered portable coffee makers come in. If you don’t have easy access to power when you’re in the RV, on a boat, in the cabin,or at camp, then these are a godsend. Campfires are not always allowed at campsites, especially at national parks. But you can still enjoy a morning brew by powering your coffee maker with the sun." READ MORE
