Were you ever close by , or witnessed something of historical importance?

Someone said they were in Dallas on the day of Kennedy's Assassination. And I remember watching Nixon's '69 Inauguration Parade by the White House, in DC. There were camera guys on these crane things, televising the parade. On one side was the parade, on the other was a full blown riot. People were smashing windows, up and down the street. Things were getting thrown all over the place. They threw a big mail box through a store window. There were cops, and people running around. None of this was ever on the news. I have pics of it, SOMEPLACE (GRRR). That night I watched the replay of the parade, looking for the riot. While all they had to do was turn the cameras around, they never showed the riot on TV. Well, that's as close to a historical event I ever got. Did you ever get close or witnessed a historical event?

Yes I was in West Germany on the 9th of November 1991 when the Berlin wall came down. It was one of the most emotional, and scary times of my life... Thousands of people smashing the wall , hundreds climbing the wall, a long line of cars on the east side of the wall desperately but patiently waiting to get to the west side.. the noise, the clamour, the crying the shouting... I'll never forget it.
