We've (I've) always done it this way

Because you've always done things a particular way, when there's a new and better way, are you guilty of refusing to change?

We could still be traveling by horse and carriage or churning butter or using carrier pigeons to send messages or lighting our homes with kerosene lamps or doing our laundry on a washboard.

Change for the better is good. Change for the sake of change is not good. Change is a constant factor in our lives. Apparently, the learned scholars are telling us that there have been more changes in this world since the Industrial Revolution (1760) then in all the previous history of mankind. I don't think this rapid change can go on forever. Not all change is good as I said. Look at the changes that "Mad Dog Putin" is trying to make. Not many people would claim that climate change is a good thing. We are now living in a period of mass migration of people from country to country. Few would say that wars are good changes (unless you are manufacturing military equipment).

@Packerjohn I mean changes to make our personal lives better and/or simpler. You know, like automatic washing machines, online banking, thermostats to regulate the oven temperature, running water, flush toilets...

Only with my quilting. I still hand quilt even though there are machines to do it. I ENJOY the handwork, which is WHY I quilt in the first place. Other than that, I'm game for something new if it actually IS better or easier.
It would be wonderful to see pics of such works of art. I have a star quilt and a wagon wheel quilt, circa 1900, handmade by my great grandmother. She has been dead since before I was born. They are filled with black lamb’s wool. She was a farmer in the Canadian prairies.

I'm all for quilting by hand for the quality of the finished product. My Best Aunt used to quilt by hand because, according to her, it was the best way. She was right. So are you:)

I don't mind trying something new and then if I don't like it, I can always go back to my old way.
I;m of the same mind.. maybe a little bit reluctant to change some things.. that old adage about if it ain't broke don't fix it.. kinda thing.. but I think most of us on here are willing to embrace change just by the mere fact that we're all using a computer and most of us have smart phones. etc...

Oh NO! I try to change it up anyway I can!
Making it a point to grow and change daily, learn as much as I can
about interests, improve myself and my surroundings,
enhance life anyway possible for anyone.
You gotta keep trying!
