What are democracy sausages?

We are having federal election in Australia on Saturday
This is not a political thread though

Lots of polling stations will have people cooking sausage sizzles (ie sausage and sauce in slice of bread, sometimes onion as well) as a fundraiser for local charities or clubs.
Voters can have a sausage sizzle while waiting in queue to vote and raise money for good causes at same time.
This has become a very popular thing around Australia and colloquially become known as the democracy sausage.

If the voting station is a school hall there will also be a cake stall.

I can't see that flying here. There are already dubious practices like handing out Walmart Gift Cards, but even that is done as they get into the van to the polls, not at the polls. It's illegal, but the vans alone are very questionable.

Sounds like a perfectly fine thing. As long as the charities and clubs are not promoting candidates and it is open to anyone to set up a table or booth.

Open to anyone? - well I guess you might have to apply to the school or venue and then once an organisation is approved, somebody else can't also do it there
But that is same as any stall at any public venue.

We eat a lot of various sausages here in Ohio. I love it I just bought some Cheddar Brats and Polish Sausages. It's very tasty.

During WWII, you didn't ask for a frankfurter or a hamburger. To be patriotic, you referred to them as Liberty Sausages and Liberty Patties or Liberty Steaks, or so my mother told me. Sauerkraut, of course, was Liberty Cabbage.

Sounds like what will happen to some countries with all of the dictator wannabes.

Voters are getting smarter, and ejecting them or limiting their power in the meantime by starving them of "majority" rule.

We have a County fair back home and they take country sausage links and grill them with onions and peppers. Your choice how you want it served, but most of us leave the onions and peppers on the sausage and served in a small hoagie roll. You can also put ketchup or a marinara sauce on top of it along with cheese, if you like. Really tastes good along with a few beers. I usually eat 2 of them.
