I would sure love to go camping but doubt I can do'er;) Love to hear about other's plans though:) Maybe I will try and get the other renters together for a bbq??

I know it's Memorial Day, but I don't visit graves, even though I have 3 close-by (no, not the back-yard you guys). But my grand-dad's in the Veteran's, my grand-ma, and uncle. It's been a lot of years gone by since they passed.

I know other's are suffering from more, recent losses, so just want to say that my heart is with you all.

I'll be around here for the weekend, thank goodness for SF;) Maybe I'll even be on good behavior, but I can't promise :( Denise

Won't be doing much. Might grill a burger and go on a hiking trip with the mutt. Don't like going to the beach as there are just too many people there on holidays.

Hi Bullie, I don't enjoy crowded either, but I want to get with just a few folks, or where they are because I tend to isolate too much. Social gatherings (certain types) are good for me, and mostly, it's just the grocery store for me, LOL!

I will hike for sure, since I have a hill in my backyard with a good trail. Would love to have a dog to go with me, but no puppy-sitting, so far, this weekend;) Denise

nwlady,
Dont know if you ever read it on here before but Im the guardian for a 16 year old gal(4 years now) and take care of her 8 year old brother so planning anything 24 in advance with these kids is unheard of.
I have no idea what the heck im doing from 1 hour to the next.:)

Not planning on anything special ..no BBQ. I promised my younger daughter I would take my two little granddaughters (6 & 4) for the day on Saturday so she could catch up with things at her house, and maybe on Monday too if I'm not worn out from Saturday. (My daughter has a heavy schedule during the week at her dentist office)

It's getting hot down South, and it's making me lazy.:playful: .. I'm not sure if there are any parades planned in the area. The local fire station takes their trucks for a run around the neighborhood with sirens blaring and many kids following on their bikes. That's about all the excitement around me.

Bonnie, We don't do much but watch the holiday celebrations on TV. Michael was in the Marine Corps back in the 50's.
Most of the family just see the day as a three day weekend for partying. They totally forget that their father/grandfather served in the service. :awman::notfair::tapfoot::soap2::beatdeadhorse:

We'll just be finishing up our packing and last minute shopping for our camping trip, we'll be headed out the day after Memorial Day and avoid all the traffic. If we weren't going anywhere, we'd just have a small BBQ at home, ribs or steak. Hope everyone here has a safe and enjoyable holiday. :love_heart:

LOL! You must be good at spontaneity then Davey;) I think it's great you are caring for someone/raising them. Sounds like lucky kids to me;) Denise

Thanks SB, smart to go after the "rush";) That's how I like to camp, add the times when others are working full-time jobs, LOL! Of course, unless I get one of those jobs, I won't be able to afford camping, LOL!! Denise:)

DD, DSIL, g'kids and g'kids' BFFs are leaving at the crack of dawn on Friday to visit his family up north. I'm staying here, working Friday, sort of dogsitting, but only with their new dog. Nothing going on Saturday or Sunday, but on Monday I'm going down to the city to pick up DS and bring him back here so he can at least see my "hovel". Then we're going out for Thai food before I take him back home (it's about a 25-mile round trip to fetch him and take him home again). Other than that? Not much going on.

If I can scratch up a little money, maybe I'll visit the garden center at Home Depot or Lowe's and get some bedding plants so I can play in the garden doing something besides pulling weeds.

Supposed to be only in the mid-80s. Yay. I love the season between "pollen" and "hot", short though it is.

LOL, never thought of that, but there is a time between the heavy pollen and hot, LOL! What is a dd, dsil, bff, and ds Georgia? I figure they must be family, but I can't figure out the ds at all, well, or any of the letters, LOL! Here's what I come up with on my own, which is always scarey: dd = dumb daughter, dsil, dumb sister in law, bff = boy friends father, and ds = dumb sister? Help, LOL!!

We live in a resort/tourist town so we never go away anymore lol. But this weekend,one grandson has a basketball tournament in Reno (5 hours east) and his brother has baseball championship playoffs 3 hours north. We`ve been elected to support the baseball player as they had reservations for Reno months ago-but dd and SIL are tormented because this is the end of the 18 year old`s baseball career. Anyway,we`ll go to the Sat. game,then could head to Reno if they are still winning.

What did you mean it's the end of his career? I hope he is ok. Probably mean he's going to college to be something else, anyway, have a good one;)

I'm off tonight, work Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday so no. I won't be doing anything. I don't know if the ladies upstairs have plans.

Ladies upstairs? Well, my days are pretty much the same, but we are going to have a bbq, just a dinner thingy is all on Sunday:) Other than that, I'll work at my writing, play hidden object games, go for walks/hikes, and maybe take some photos:) Have a good one:) Denise:)

My husband & I will be moving some furniture around in our spare bedrooms. I will be doing all our laundry over the weekend and on Sundays hubby always likes me to cook a very nice meal (like roast beef & mashed potatoes, or roasted chicken with stuffing, lasagna, etc.). It's a nice little tradition. The rest of the week is rather simple for me to prepare... like hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, spaghetti, etc.

Life is what we make it Justme, why not plan something a little, out of the ordinary sometime. I need to do that so I don't get depressed or in a rut;)

I don't enjoy anything 'special', I am more than happy with my daily routines and dislike being out of them. On the occasions my kids insist I take a holiday, I go home to the island of my birth, to visit relatives, but can't wait to get back home again. Fortunately I won't be having a holiday this year, as the daughter who has my husband when I am away, is not available at the time I would normally go. OK so I am weird, but I am content being as I am and have absolutely no intention of being any different. :D

nwlady, if there are acronyms (like DD) that you don't get, you can always Google 'em!

DD=Dear Daughter
DSIL=Dear Son-in-Law/Dear Sister-in-Law
DDIL=Dear Daughter-in-Law
BFF=Best Friend Forever
DS=Dear Son/Dear Sister
DGS=Dear Grandson
DGD=Dear Granddaughter
LMBO=Laughing My Butt Off
ROFL=Roll on Floor Laughing

The list goes on. And on!

When I see people using such as DD ( deadbeat daughter) I just skip over it and assume the writer can't spell I can't understand why people old enough to be on a senior forum want to write like this but to each his own.

Young folks growing up these days will never learn to spell. Or even write cursive.

I fully agree rkunsaw.
